hey guys, recently had a toshiba satellite pro a120 laptop, the current spec is:

duo core processor @ 2ghz

100 gb hdd

crappy on board gfx :D

im looking to upgrade the gfx so i can play games on it, and im looking for recomendations on which card and where to purchase it from as it seems laptop gfx are not a huge market.

anyway cheers, looking forward to your replies ;)

You're stuck unfortunately more than likely. Usually lappies that have integrated gfx controllers will not have a PCI-E expansion slot for an upgraded gpu.

...

Just checked online and there's no way to upgrade the gfx internally. You may have to hold out for one of the new external gfx adapters that Asus has been working on. Actually, doesn't someone already have a similar product available?

Yea I think something was released recently.

Where did you get the card for your MBP frag?

MBP is onboard soldered as well, but it comes with a decent card from the factory.... X1600 Pro 256mb, no need to upgrade it :)

Edit: Asus XG station was the one I was originally thinking of and works via ExpressCard interface (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/asus-xg-station-cracked-open-easily-upgradeable-250402.php) but I don't think they've released it yet. And like I said I'm almost positive theres something pretty much just like this by a different maker thats already available.

tbh its probably a good thing that i cant upgrade it seeing as the lappy is for uni and i really should stop playing games :D

may as well upgrade my pc and enjoy it while im still at home ;)

If i got a "acer travelmate 4062lci" would i be able to fit this upgrade thingy? or is it only new laptops? thinking of getting it off mr raging
