Get some bandwidth, Realtek!

Ugh

Got Virgin Media BB recently and thought " hmm, I'll update my LAN drivers".

Found the right drivers on Realtek's horrible site, started downloading them....getting 5kB/sec!

What the hell is wrong with manufacturers that they can't possibly get a little more bandwidth!!??

Even like 20-30mB/sec would be nice!

Asus, Abit....they're all the same!

Their site is a real pita.

They have a bunch of mirrors, some of which bounce u if they're busy.

But ya, minimal download speeds there.

Openoffice has given me my best download speeds..and they aren't exactly a profitable company (directly anyway)...so whats wrong with realtek renting out some servers or whatever with the money they make..arent they on pretty much every motherboard? >.<

Yeah Realtek are a huge OEM, takes the michael really.

Still, my broadband is pretty sweet...

Better than 4.3mB/sec - although not Virgin's advertised 20mB...of course ;)

I noticed that too with Realtek's site. Thankfully I have an Asus Xonar D2 now and downloading the drivers from Asus is considerably quicker, but there is still room for improvement :D

Nice one!

So how do they compare to Idnet? I mean, I have no cable in my area anyway, but when i do I'll be trying Idnet's offerings..if they arent toooooo expensive

You getting Tv etc. with that too?

Well they are certainly quicker than IDNET (I got 4300Mb with them), but customer service is as terrible as I expected :p

Not getting TV too, have Sky+ Worl (soon to be Sky+HD World ;))

Sweet, I just ran that thing:

Nice, you're exchange must have less people on it than mine. I'm pretty happy with the speed. Main reason I switched from IDNET was because of BT's extortionately priced services.

Cool sounds a alright deal :D

Still I only have adsl in my area so Idnet it is :p

If you're ADSL only then I can't recommend them more. Top class service and the most friendly company I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. You can't measure that kind of service in mB/sec :p

abit are just as bad. their site is pants. half the downloads dont work and the ones that do are slow as hell

im on virgin bb too (naturally ;) get XL bb, XL V+ tv and free calls + free line rental for £15pm :p )

I know what you mean, sometimes 2/3kbps...

Mum's pays £50 per month for XL BB, XL V+ TV, XL TV x 4, Free Calls + Line Rental.

£15pm is good llywd

The Gigabyte website was really slow as well. I havn't had to use it recently, but at 1 point my bro, mate and my PC had Gigabyte boards in them. It was so painfully slow...
