Gaming laptop

INB4 'lulz gaming laptop' and 'get a rig'

As my life has taken a slightly more social angle than I predicted a few years back, I am now in need of gaming on the go.

I already own a very decent desktop, and whilst I can and do use it regularly, I'm looking into getting a laptop for more needs other than gaming - though this is most important spec wise.

A friend of mine IRL (MrApoc) recommended your forums to get advice on what build would be the best for me.

I have a max spending limit of £1000 - though this can perhaps sway to about £150 or so more, if needed.

Thanks in advance, grateful of any help.

hey IRL friend :)

yeah, i personally have bias against gaming laptops (no upgrade-ability etc.) but I'm sure one of oc3d's amazing members would have better advice than myself and also know where to get one (without falling into the trap of spending bucketloads on an alienware)

just like youre post ...........

fine.

is not worth it kuz:

  • theres not cheap laptop components at least in my country
  • the laptop doesnt have a decent cooling
  • playing with a laptop is a pain in the ass, and it bends your spine (believe i had to desktop my laptop)
  • with that amount of money you could get a pc that does the job, and it wont overheat
  • i dislike laptops to play anything
  • if i ever buy a laptop to play it could be alienware or the one that razer announces
  • i have never build a custome laptop theres no such thing in my country and i wont try that, until they sell cool decent cases for laptops and cool fans
  • i do not know of any website that sells hardware for laptops

if you really want a gamming laptop you should first :
  • find a place in your country or with international shippment that does sell them
  • check what can you buy and whats available
  • post the hardware here and some geeks will tell you if thats really worth it

i do not recomend at any cost to have a laptop gamming pc, to hard, to expensive, to much work and finding pieces for me.

Speak to Tom I think he has one for sale at the minute. I believe it's the MSI one.

Asus G46VW. Nice small size (14in screen) and the GTX 660 will perform decently well since the screen is 1600x900. If I were to get any gaming laptop that would be the one.

The MSI gaming laptops are among the best ones i believe but they're pretty expensive. Either that or find a company that allows you to customize your own laptop

Someone on this forum has built his own laptop using this site:
http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/laptop-computers/

You can configure them to the specs that you're looking for, and you'll have standard warranty on the components (1 year) and assembly (3 years). They ship internationally, though it does cost a fair bit of money as expected.

Otherwise I'd say look for a decently priced MSI or Asus laptop that suits your needs. MSI or aimed at gamers while most Asus laptops tend to be a bit more all-round :)
