I hope your parts come in soon ^^

If this is the low spec build I can't wait until you do something "high end"

Did you say you were going green and black?

yeah i am doing Green and Black as i haven't really seen many mainly red these days with the Asus rampages.....not sure about getting NON-LED or Green LED fans at this point as i want it to be a quiet rig and to do that i would have to do push/pull on the rads with LED fans i would use?

fans ive looked at getting are either:

Akasa Apache

Bitfenix Spectre

At the moment im waiting for the matte black switch to become available and apparently the suppliers delivery to where i bought the G1.Sniper 3 is delayed otherwise i would have had it tomorrow :/

yeah i thought of mixing the two but im a bit funny with fans and like them all to be the same....as the apaches perform better i could just do push or pull on the rads and then stick one of the back for exhaust and one for the SSDs and HDD (7-9 fans) but with the spectres i would use around 12 fans and in the end they are only around £2 more to get the apaches; plus i am getting some led strips so i dont think i would need the leds in the fans as well.

EDIT: looking through fans is bringing in other options i considered before....like the Coolermaster Sickleflows i've heard good and bad things about them like that they aren't as quiet as they say when at full speed and stuff like that, is that true as i would happily use them as all my fans because they are green/black and the official specifications are supposed to be good....?

you could always bu the fans you want then paint them

+1 for the spectres and the pros. the pros have higher airflow and are only a fraction louder.

Out of the apaches and spectres I would like to go with the apaches I think as they will be hidden better with the black case and then I can control where the light is in the case with where I put the led strips.....also to the painting the fans, I like the idea but I'm not sure I will be able to get the paint on correctly and will probably unbalance the fan. :/ good idea tho

But I am pleased to say that my G1.sniper 3 has been dispatched today so should be here by Thursday latest

EDIT: Just had a look at static pressure for the spectre pros, its 1.24mm while the apaches are 2.64mm so still leaning towards the apaches but thank you for that recommendation

The vipers are black with yellow fan blades mate. The Apaches are either all black or military green and brown

Lol thats why i said kinda. They are green loosely i took it from this angle. They are called viper vw do the sirocco in viper green. The fans are yellower than viper green bu not yellow as in a banana skin so lol thats how i loosely got black and green. Even though you are closer to right cos they have way more yellow than green. Either way they look awesome as flip and im getting some

Ah i see, my bad man. Yeah your right they've got a hint of green in there, and yeah it's a bit like the Viper Green Scirocco paint (love that colour), never really noticed the hint of green in them tbh until you mentioned it.

As off now i have all the parts needed to get the rig up and running (can use an old GPU for now) but the case....this is because they are now over a week late to be delivered to the retailer and i haven't found anyone else that holds them in stock so now im in the predicament of whether to wait until i get back from holiday to see if the matte black is in stock or get the standard gloss black switch, do you guys think it will be worth waiting?

Sorry i haven't updated recently, been on holiday in Spain.....well the computer is built now and i will upload some pics asap.

But i believe i'm having a problem with it, i have the SSD's in RAID0 and i then installed windows onto the RAID array and installed the motherboards drivers blah blah but now boot times are still quite slow compared to what i was expecting, similar to my old HDD boot times and i don't know why?

I had the same problem with my 1st SSD raid array. I needed to update the firmware and secure erase both drives before the speed picked up significantly.

is service pack 1 installed? if not update to SP1.

Generally, if you have the SSD hard drive, win7 would disable disk
defragmentation,Superfetch, Prefetcher and ReadyBoost features.
If you want to check their state, you can use the following steps.

Navigate to the following registry,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters

If the superfetch and prefetch features are disabled, their registry value
should be 0, please check if EnablePrefetcher and EnableSuperfetch are
both set to 0.

using the Z77 SATA3 (ports 0/1) SATA2 (ports3/4/5) verify drivers
using marvell SATA3 (ports 6/7/8/9) verify drivers

i linked a SSD RAID and was confused of the results, so i unlinked and clean installed
a single SSD and that was subtantually faster. one thing to note is that because
it is in RAID0, the OS might not treat it as a SSD config. no trim support in RAID
with SSD.

sorry for like ignoring this thread, been busy at work and a few things.....but yes i have SP1 installed already but unless I'm a complete moron i cant find the TRIM or defrag options in my BIOS (this is where i find it isn't there :/ )

but i ran CrystalDisk and ATTO:

those speeds seem pretty normal from what Ive seen, so i don't get why windows boots quite slowly. Its updated a lot but im not sure what firmware i have on the SSDs just supposed it was a newer one as where i got them from had restocked just a little while before i bought them.

Thanks for the support so far guys. Still got the GPUs to come, which at the moment are going to be EVGA GTX 670 FTW's, and then the GPU watercooling is to come after that :) so a lot still to do to get this rig 100%

A watercooling list will be posted once i have finalised the components.
