fullboard cooling

In my new 2500k buid i'm doing a dual loop system 1 xspc rx360 with heat killer rev 3.0 for cpu. Second loop same radx2 for evga classified gtx 590 hydro copper quad sli. The question is there any real improvment in performance to go full board cooling(NB,SB,mosfets) my board is a Gigabyte GA-P67-UD7-B3 the over clock is at 4.8Ghz @1.39volts in a xspc H1 Hive cube case with 3 front 120mm intake fans and 3 120mm top exhaust and 1 120mm rear exhaust. This is my second experence with w/c first time doing 2 loops and have never removed mobo heat sinks before so any advive is always appreciated thanks.

My first outing into water-cooling I did everything I could with 2 loops. It's pretty easy to do. It's no harder than doing the big 2 (CPU/gfx) , easier if anything. Although I will say, and I know I am being a hypocrit, 2 loops is overkill. I have read up on it since and the performance gains aren't really worth the price at all. Unless like me, you had saved for that very reason and you weren't using 2 loops from a practical stand point, and instead you are having 2 loops so you can just say "I have 2 damn loops!" then go ahead! I sure as hell did it for that reason!

Just my opinion though.

(although quickly scanned your post again and noticed that you are using 2x gfx 580 so you may be able to justify the dual loops. But I would still say check with 1 first to see how well it works.)

From my experience... which is kind of limited, I like the the Mobo cooling options. I have used board cooling in my last two builds and am very pleased with the results. I just installed the EK full board kit for the UD7 in my new build and am very please with the results. I have a 2600k @ 4.8 currently, but have been able to achieve 5.3ghz on it. I cant say that the full board kit will give you better overclocks... but it cant hurt, and it looks good.

with 2x 590's it probably could be a good idea, and with dual loops you have plenty of cooling power for everything.

your'e going with 4 gtx 590's right. IMO...If I read that right before I did full Mobo cooling I would water cool those four cards in their own loop, but thats just me

oops my bad...forgot that thats two cards and their already water blocked...face palm with that being the case you may as well go all out and and give some love to the Mobo also

Price is not an issue with this build this is my hardcore gaming rig, so gaming performance,low temps and good looks are the only factors. And while price isn't an issue I still have trouble paying for components that give little to no performance boosts thus the 2500k over the 2600k, also i want to say I have to damn loops also. and thanks for the input guys

quick question I was looking at the ek blocks on frozen cpu and they said that the block might make the first pcie x16 slot usless did you run into a problem like that. Thanks.

Not exactly useless, but the clip retainer on my card had to be shortened up a little, but it still works fine.

he cant do quad 590s, each card has 2 gpus on it so at most he can do 2 cards for 4 cores. if it were me i would NOT buy these cards. each card has 3gb ram, so you only get 1.5gb per gpu. i would either buy the 580 3gb model if i had to have a card now, or wait for the 580 classified to release. http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1103387&mpage=1

in my eyes ther are only 3 reasons to do 2 loops.

1. not enough cooling in the 1st loop

2. pump head pressures exceeding max psi of pump

3. just to brag about it

doing quad SLI with 590's only takes 2 cards, it's all the drivers can handle. If you feel like doing dual loops... do it. Jett, try not to be so negative, this is a project log, let them build what they want to build.
