Project "Cry Baby"

Still getting the odd boot initialisation failure even with the Crosshair Vii so that rules out the motherboard. Toss up now between the AquaComputer stuff and the be quiet! or the Vega64 itself. I do see a Vega 7 in the near future though :)

Cry Baby now being used as a test mule for an Edge Compute device. Layered Hypervisors (KVM as base with Esxi and HyperV nested). Getting an awful lot thrown at it such a Mesos cluster + a ROCm Tensor compute build for a bit of machine learning for pre processing before uploading to cloud land. Esxi is needed for Cisco's CMX on prem VM which provides WiFi hyperlocation calculations. HyperV needed for Azure Edge IOT hence nested Hypervisors. All good fun and a bit of a change from its normal day to day usage.

Sometimes startup issues, fixed by leaving the PSU off for a few minutes, or that occur semi-randomly, can be an issue of transient signals from either interference or capacitance in your cables, some things that could cause this include being near a source of high EM (Microwaves or anything with an AC motor are typical culprits), or particularly long cabling within your PC(Maybe daisy changed extenders?)
That's assuming your PSU is already in good shape, checking the voltage readings on each line from your motherboards a good place to start.

I was snooping about in the BIOS this morning and noticed that the 12V rail is being reported @<10V. Seasonic Prime on order.

So a Seasonic Prime Ultra Gold 1000W arrived, fitted and guess what? Same issue.
A bit more investigation and I turned off the Fastboot option in the Bios and problem gone. Grr

Other news, my TridentZ 3200 seem quite happy at 3333 with C14 and currently running at 3466/C15.

Leaving the Ryzen to boost on its own, seen one Core go to high 4700s so I'll leave as is.

Cry Baby will have 3 more days and then it will be stripped down and bits sold off to make way for new goodies.

Incoming are a Lian-Li PC-011 Dynamic in lieu of the Phanteks Enthoo Primo - big massive case, but I've suspected some earthing issues with my particular one over the last year or so. A good example would be not being able to use the mid board USB Type C adapter without the PSU shutting down (replaced the be-Quiet 850 with a Seasonic 1000 with no improvement) and i've wanted something a little more discrete for the home office.

Ryzen 9 3900X in lieu of the Ryzen 7 2700X - Review day shows that the new Ryzen's or at least the 3900X is a bit of a beast so I want one. It will reside in my Asus X470 Crosshair Vii Hero Wi-Fi for the time being paired with the Vega Vii.
