Full Retard

Somebody else in the world has Corsair Link!!!! Does yours work nicely? I didn't find it too great with standard 3 pin fans, with some firmware they clicked and with the revised firmware they just barely changed speed. It's absolutely awesome with PWM fans though.

Thanks for all the positive responses and a mention on FB! This is my first contribution to any tech forum and I guess I picked the right one :)

I am considering changing the GTX letter color although in reality the red lights are a lot darker then they appear in the photo, especially the front fans, which makes it look much less like a Christmas tree:) I especially got the stock 780ti as I am a sucker for lights.

I had issues starting up the Link system. At first it only displayed system related values (CPU and GPU activity, GPU fan speed) and wouldn't show any Link values, even after reinstalling about 7 times and updating all firmware. Then I found a newer software version in a forum that wasn't on the main Corsair page. It looked a lot slicker and displayed the CPU temp, but still wouldn't connect to the fans and lights. Getting a bit desperate, I powered down the rig, switched off the PSU and then pressed the start button to drain all capacitors. Straight away everything appeared! Now it sometimes stops working when the PC crashes. I found the best fix is to unplug and replug the USB header cable while the PC is on.

Oced the CPU and GPU straight away. Managed to get the CPU up to 4.4GHz at 1.45V (a bit high but the only way to get it stable) and had it running stable for a few days. Then I did a Prime95 run and couldn't believe my eyes when CPU temp climbed straight up to 95 degrees. It didn't crash and remained stable. Weirdest thing was, H100i temp didn't go over 36 degrees. I guess delidding does make sense after all as CPU heat obviously isn't transferred to the cooler..

A small update; I finally received the full side window for my case. This window was the main reason I went for this case and it was one of the first parts I ordered. Now 12 weeks later it finally arrived and it was well worth the wait! Finally I get to keep an eye on what's going on behind that side panel (not much). :)

The name I picked for my rig was "Full Retard". I didn't want to mention this on the forum as I feared it might offend people, but since Tom used it in several FB posts I might as well let it out. I could not find tools to change the thread title. Maybe a Mod can assist?

I had a few comments about the PSU. I absolutely agree that it is a waste of money, but when I selected parts I didn't think a smaller one would look right behind the HDD case mass- wise. At the same time I wasn't sure if this one was even going to fit. I guess convincing the wife that a second 780ti is a really good idea might justify it a bit better :)

Reading through the forums I noticed the preference to mount it fan- up. Considered doing this, but it would affect the positive air pressure in the case. I might remove the sticker later. Not really sure if it needs to be there.

Side window and packaging. It seems it arrived in one bit.

The original ugly ugly ugly side panel. Who designed this?

And the new panel fitted. Nice mirror effect. I only noticed the little cable sneaking out behind the back panel later. It has been tucked away now, but it is getting too dark to take new photos.

I can see myself! Hmm, give those PRISM guys something to do :)

Getting dark.

One more pic I still had waiting on the shelf. My previous rig, about 5 years old now, the new rig and the wife's rig, which is about one year old. Hers overclocks way better than mine, easily hitting a stable 4.6GHz.

Awesome, And next the Corsair Light Bar Upgrade Kit ^_^
Would look the bizz and even more if you somehow modded the lightbars to be red :)

Light bar upgrade would be nice, but as you mentioned, should be red, not white. I haven't found any instructions on how to change the light bar color yet. It would be nice for corsair to bring out different coloured bars, but all their new products feature coloured surfaces rather than lights.
