Full cover air cooelrs for 8800

Anyone know of any?

I mean like the old Arctic Silencers, ala this. Ive got one of these and its awesome and ramsinks are a pita.

I don't want to have to resort full cover water blocks.

Which 8800? The GT? The G92 GT has the 'old' mounting dimensions so anything that worked with the 7900 series should work too.

The older stuff wont fully cover a GT either due to the VRMs and what-not needing covering :-/

Do you find the GTS overheating?

I have one of the first 8800GTs with those silly little coolers on that had no affect on cooling the card. Swapped out for an S1 and turbo module and the cards sub 40'C, overclocked, under load - also fits the G92 GTS and can be used passively so it's silent and very effective.

Yes its overheating, hence the need for a new cooler .

It doesn't like rendering 1650x1080 of game and 300mb video files at the same time, on a desktop of 3600x1200. With the fan at full it runs loaded at 64°, but its too loud for my taste.

I'm aware of the S1 and if I was choosing a die only cooler it would be top of my list. But, as the thread title states, I'm looking for full cover.

It looks like the only choice is water at the moment.

I think it could be partly aesthetics but sinks are a pain to fit and are then usually impossible to get off (if fitted well). Making the card harder to sell and use with different coolers.

I'd go for an S1, as you say ramsinks are a huge pita. Mine have fallen off so many times, the S1 itself though is a very good cooler. Never get temps above 50 degrees with my 88GT. Maybe you could go for that and a ramsink jobbie simialr to:

Some of the stock 8800GTs are being supplied with the S1 and fans as standard now.

My ramsinks went on once and stayed there, yet they'd be easy enough to remove if I ever wanted to. Some people use thermal epoxy, but that tends to be a little too adhesive.

Mine are attached with only a very thin layer of thermal tape that came pre-applied to the ramsinks. If you just make sure you thoroughly clean the surface with TIM cleaner, followed by surface purifier, this leaves a flawless finish and the ramsinks attach easily and stay affixed securely but not "stuck".

I have the stock cooler and the screws kept safe, should I ever want to sell it as the original product, though it probably has a higher resale value with the new cooler.

These are for the G80 cards, not the G92s I believe. By original GTS do you mean you have the G80?

Yeah I think you might be right there Rastalovich.

We get through a few of these at work, and I think it's still a die only cooler, it's just that its so big it looks like a full cover.

I've just been totally and utterly spoiled by the genius that was the Arctic Cooling NV5 for the 6800/7800. 4 special nuts and the thing was installed, cooling all that needed cooling to a more than satisfactory level, and for £15. Ramsinks are far too much hassle when a product like that exists. And if one doesn't exist (aside form the question 'why the ****ing hell not), then a may as well slap on an EK FC block and add it to my water loop.

Ive seen a few of them, zalman actually make a nice looking one to go with the VF1000. But your looking at like £60 for one + a cooler that would be gaurented to fit, again, may as well just plumb in a block.

Now that thing is a monster. Probably full cover cooling at the 'Component hight' PDF, nice find mate. Ill keep an eye on this one.

bah, was just gonna caution you on that. Reading some specs over at performance-pcs and most of the gpu cover SAY gpu+memory.. but they supply mosfets.

Try find ANY aftermarket cooler for the 3870X2... At least you have some choice. I have stock or uber expensive F/C

I use some uber thermal tape on my ram sinks, stick hard and fast after the initial push and hold for a few seconds. Shiatsu thermal tape iirc. The sinks come off with some twisting action applied so resale is an option.
