He doesn't game, he'll just use it as a casual PC for web browsing and streaming probably.

He said he wants me to build him a cool looking PC for his room and is budgeting 800$ - 1200$ USD for it. And he needs keyboard, mouse, + monitor. I want to try to get the total $ under 1200 tho.

Any idears? Cherrz.

Well, what exactly is "cool looking" in his opinion? 100 LEDs?

Anyway, a suggestion
of course it's a lot of personal preference, opinions might differ
as nothing about storage space was mentioned i just put an ssd in there, but hdds aren't really expensive if more space is needed
this is without a keyboard and mouse as personal preference is much more important for those parts

Decent build. I bet he will be uploading his Go Pro footage and doing a small amount of editing on them. So I'm going to probably going to go with a HDD, and a cheap GPU.

Here's a build I'm considering:

Don't understand why no one has proffered the thought of a cheaper i7 (ivy bridge?) along with a low range graphics card (you can fit a 750Ti or 760 into that price point). Will be much better for editing, and still capable of streaming games.

Even a xeon 1230 can be had for £50 less than an i7 and if you are running a a graphics card its a no brainer on a budget really, it runs cooler too because it doesn't have the igpu on the chip also.

Hmmm, maybe he doesn't even need a graphics card,, how do onboard graphics on a i3 or i5 compare to some APU's..

.... 800 to 1200 for a non gaming PC for web browsing and streaming movies? send me the 1200 - I will buy a 400 pc and keep the rest.

if your not gaming... I dont see the need for that much money being spent.
