Haha, yeah I went overboard, started with Frank, then things got out of hand. I made the base he sits on with the equipment rack. I ordered the 1/2 rack and shelves to put everything in. The red cable management is from when I used to install telecom equipment in carriers equipment facilities, that used to be yellow and would be typically for Fiber cables - it just worked out well that I had some left over becuase I knew I would use it one day. So I painted it red and mounted it to the rack. The reason mostwires are hidden under th edesk is I also have a run of that same fiber trough painted red and it holds all the masses of wires up under th edesk nice and neat. Then I painted the desk as well. I modded the Koolance ERM unit that came with blue fans and clear reservoir lighting, replaced all the LED's with red ones.

The board that has his name on it was initially painted red, then I hand cut out the letters, put them on the board, then painted the board black, then removed the letters to let the red shine through. This is why this entire build has taken since Feb 2011, was because I was modding much more than just the PC.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

you sir are ... just ... a genius (i have a black and red 'theme' aswell, well i thought i did, now nothing i will ever do will seem that epic....) dam,

am i the only one that thinks the giant stand is a little gay. other than that if is a work of art. i esp love the way that you threaded the sleeving together to make a banded sleeve. classy.

I agree, the stand is a little over done - however it serves several purposes:

  • Hides cables underneath for less clutter
  • Provides a solid base for the rack and the PC for more stability - when they were on the carpet - things wobbled
  • Better air intake from the bottom of the Corsair 800D because it is on a solid surface, not pressed into the carpet
  • Allows the case to close and rest properly because its case is sitting flat - one problem I was having before was it's doors would not shut properly or would pop out because the case was tweakeed from not having a solid surface to sit on - at 76lbs, Frank needs something solid or his case is going to twist sitting on uneven and mushy surfaces like carpet
  • Provides protection from people, being as big as it is, they cannot walk into Frank or the rack, their toes are going to hurt first
  • Defines my "electronics" space
  • Frank weighs 76lbs - the rack weighs a LOT more than that - I needed something solid that could handle the weight of all this gear so it could not be tiny and it could not be without size - you should see how many 2x6's are under that thing, I built it like a tank because I knew what it was going to hold.
  • It ties in the color scheme well

It doe do its job well like. But i there is one thing i love is the way you refer to it as frank PERSONIFICATION FTW

Forget stealing the PC, I'll have to kick you out of your house and claim it all.

If that's your office I'm sure there are plenty other cool things in your house.

are there TWO subs
ohmy.gif
dammmm dude hows does your family live there, i would drive anybody crazy with a setup like that
icon_drool.gif

btw the massive speakers make your TV (which is probably huge) look tiny, maybe go for 103 inch concept

@ ionicle - LMAO - nice 1

@ mrDMXtreme - Yep dual 15" 350W sub woofers. Those towers are Paradigm Studio 100 speakers with a Paradigm CC-590 center and a 55" Samsung LCD edge light TV. Powering those speakers are AirLabs Certified Class D Amp Pioneer SC-27 Elite 140W x 7 channels. What you do not see are the matching Studio 60's as rear speakers for 5.2 Surround. Yes the TV looks smal on that unit with those speakers, my next goal is a house with a home theater where I can crank it up and not piss off my wife or neighbors and drop in a 120" animorphic screen with a projector.

Holy ballz

Im gonna hazard a guess that you aint under 30. Cos no one under thirty has access to the kind funds that would allow the combo of frank and your downstair home cinema setup. Also have the maturity to do something so clean and well thought out. Respect...

@ SparkleDJackson - Bingo! Yeah, my 30's were a few years ago for me so well deduced. Much appreciated in realizing the time, detail, and patience it took to build something like Frank and still even further - the entire office with the obvious forethought and detail. Yes, the HT certainly was a hit on the financial side as well and well worth it IMO.
