Fractal Define R4 - intake fan noise - experience

Indeed or I'm just sticking with the Antec one at its lowest setting

Thanks for all the suggestions/thoughts :)

No worries. I'm not too sure how else to help really. I cant really suggest a better fan - because you actually want a worse fan that doesn't shift as much air.
Nevermind!

Small update:

I e-mail Fractal Design about this small problem

Reply:

This sound sometimes occurs when the fan is too close to the fan grill, as you state. If you have something you could place in between the fan and the side panel when you screw them together this will most likely stop. Which case model is it? If it is the Define R4 we included some rubber spacers to specifically deal with this issue in your accessory box.

Best regards
Fractal Design

Using a spacer was also suggested by Jamesriley94 - So I'm going to test the distance I need between the grill and the fan for it to be silent! Maybe the included Fractal rubber spacers will do or I need to find something larger :) none the less it is a good solution

One last update:
My side panel fan is now completely "silent" (no more annoying turbulence/vibrating sound)
Materials used:
Fractal Design Rubber bands (any will do)
Bolts with hex nuts http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00FBoaKnUyrkur/Carriage-Bolt-With-Hex-Nut.jpg

Hopefully you get the idea:
bolt -> into the side panel -> rubber spacers on the bolt -> bolt into fan -> hex nut to secure the fan on the bolt together with the rubbers spacers on the side panel
