Fractal Arc Midi questions (Bitfenix Raider was a dud!)

Hey all,

I was about to get the Bitfenix Raider, but was turned off by the thin side panels; does the Arc Midi have thick side panels?

Also, seems all fan slots have filters apart from the back panel and side ones. How do people block off the side panel?

Are all the filters easily removable?

With the R3, does anyone who's seen one know if the Arctic White version has that brushed plastic effect on the front? It's awesome on the other colours, but the white one seems plainer.

Thanks

Edit: Nvm... just accidentally won a Raider auction... xp

congratulations on your auction. i believe the panels are better than the cheaper likes. a good dose of sound deadner would make it

like the R3. you can possibly do the same to the raider to 'beef-up' the thiness.

again congrats!

thanksmuch, my qualms with the case were pretty small so i'm not really regretting winning the auction by mistake

and that's an idea i might consider! (sound deadening)

Sorry about the bump, but it was either this or create a new topic with some same questions, because that Raider I won turned out to be a disappointment (and so this topic needs reviving). Unfortunately, the Raider I got "BNIB" from ebay was used and damaged. And the seller return policy means I'm out £20 in shipping fees... ridiculous. Hopefully the seller agrees with me. Going to try and return it, then get an Arc Midi!

So, forget the R3. It's all about the Arc Midi now, so once again:

1. What's the easiest/most economical way to block off the side fan mount?

2. Are all top, bottom, and front filters easily removable? Seems like just the bottom one is.

Thanks again!

1. Best thing to do i think (if your feeling adventurous) would be to mod a nice big side window in the case and be gone with the fan grill completely. It would look fantastic too. If not, i wonder if you could buy another side panel which goes on the back side of the motherboard tray, but flip it the other way around and use it as the panel on the opposite side. Not sure if that would work though.

2. The Bottom one can be removed easily. The front bezel and the roof are easily removable, but the filters are not. Easiest way to clean the front and top filters is to vacuum out the dust or use compressed air etc...

That window would be great actually. It was in the back of my mind, but now someone's said it back to me it sounds much more viable for some reason. They're also coming out with a window version at some point, so maybe I can wait just a little bit.

Not a big loss without removable filters I suppose. The rest of the case makes up for it.

Thanks very much, everything's been cleared up ^^

i'm trying to angle for a second unit. these are fabulous. i've gotta thin-out the inventory first (wife knows where i hide the knives).
