Fractal Solo

Right then guys, seeming as I am overly tired and can't find the up and go to take decent photos, I thought I would have a play with the clock speeds on my GPU and CPU.

970 is now @1314 base clock which boosts up to a rather healthy 1554mhz while remaining at 61c ...... Don't want to push it any further as it benches well at these speeds. (will update with some bench scores later)

So it comes down to my trusty i5 4670k.
It has been running at 4.5Ghz @1.195v for a while now. So with the more efficient cooling loop (9-10c lower than my H100i) I figured I would push the boundaries a little and see what i can get stable.

here what has happened so far :

5Ghz @1.35v ..... Not going to happen, hangs on post (I considered higher voltage but seems pointless as i would never want to run at anything higher)

4.9 @1.35v ..... Better, just a blue screen at windows start. Reduced my memory speed down to 1600 to try and stabalise, still no go.

4.8 @ 1.35v ..... Still with my memory @1600, boots into windows and runs OCCT for a few minutes before hanging

4.7 ...... So this was stable with my memory back @2400. So I am currently down to 1.25v as I write this.

I will continue to reduce my voltage to see how low it will go @4.7Ghz and let you guys know where I go from here.

Thoughts as always are welcome.

after 1.3v on the cpu, ive noticed you need to start upping the input voltage, maybe up the input voltage and try and get 4.8 stable, i defo think its doable

Biggest issue I find is getting the temps at a respectable level. Occt will push up to 80c @4.7 @1.24v (lowest stable voltage).

Backed of to 4.6@1.2v now. Testing temps and stability as we speak

I just looked at the pictures again and realized, you handle 2 rads a CPU and GPU block only with that itty bitty small pump? that's actually impressive and gives me an idea...
BTW how audible is it?

The pump is no louder than my H100i was, with the side off my case I can hear the fans on low as much as i can hear the pump. I was really impressed by how well it works and how quiet it is.

So time is running down and a few niggles are to be left. 1st is the water loop and 2nd is the battlefield vinyl graphic. The vinyl was meant to be done by now, unfortunately I was let down at the last minute. So for the sake of aesthetics i have taken the liberty to Photoshop that part onto the final pictures.

Ultimately, the main focus of this build was to be the front and side panels. These have come out beyond my expectations.

So here it is, Fractal Solo in all its glory :

There will no doubt be future updates to the Build log. Unfortunately due to the changes in the cable type with the RMi series of PSU's I was unable to get the custom cables in time for the deadline. These will be added as soon as they arrive.

So for now, may the Force be with you!

Anytime man! All these builds turned out great!

They have indeed, all great and equally unique and different which is a pleasant surprise, tbh I was at least expecting a couple to be similar but no none of them share any styles. I do believe all 5 of us nailed it.

Agreed!

It's really good to see that everyone has gone their own way with the builds. Goes to show there is so much out there left to be done. Well done to all involved!

After having a quick look through my build log, I noticed a few of the photos are a lot darker than intended. Probably down to having a new monitor, so I have done a few photos to bring the build log up to a higher standard.

I honestly thought this would of been all over Fractal's Facebook and Twitter given that that the film just came out.... come to think about it none of the builds have been put up...

They keep saying its every two weeks and there is a backlog. After talking to them today I wouldnt take it personally boys but they will just do it as an when.

They wont even post links to the build logs. Just enjoy the parts you got and forget about the rest, enjoy your rigs.

*edit* this is due to be posted on the 25th.
