Forums gone dead?

No offense but I think the forums getting revamped and re-formatted has got a lot to do with this. The forums just look ugly and outdated now compared to other websites like tom's hardware, ign etc. to name a few...OC3D website designers, please bring the old forums back, because this look is just not happening. Also please bring back the news section, the point that it wasn't frequently updated with new information led to its downfall imho. The news section can bring a lot of topics to be discussed about in the forums.

the old forum wont be coming back due to security issues, there are some new admins on the team who are directly working with the forum to try and fetch back some of the features and bring some new ones to the table.
As for the news section it was binned as it was a community decision to do so as Tom posted a topic which wanted peoples views.

Its also very time consuming having to send out the news or press releases to people who have to be shown how to use the back end of the website and getting hold of the people to do it if an important piece of news comes in can be hard (I know this from experience as i used to do it for a while)

Listing other forums doesnt exactly help as the majority of the PC forums use vBulletin like OC3D.

You get used to it really, just a few things need ironing out. I'm happy to use this now, although like everyone I did still prefer the old ones, but I've accepted they arent coming back.

The main issue now is that there aren't a lot many things to do in the website. Youtube's taken care of as TTL keeps us engaged with his hour long videos, now please do something to the website and forums so that it keeps users hooked on longer. I think frequent updates, flow of new stuff is needed to keep people interested. Currently there aren't many things to do after I log into my account and the site is static most of the time. Make it more lively and interactive please. Constant stimulation is the key. ;)

lol, I manage to spend all my life on these forums, clicking new posts to refresh it every 10 seconds haha. I dont really get bored.

I do agree with you, it does feel a little dead at times, but it will sort itself out in time, especially with the introduction of the new mods. Just be patient :)

Just a few things there, you want all these thing but havent suggested how??

People have stated that the old forums are not coming back, that we have new mod/admin's that are goign to be helping sort things out, but this doesn't happen over night. it is a process that will takes week if not longer.

Just be patient, hold on to your tea and enjoy the ride of what we have now.

Give us a news section that offers the latest news about all tech-stuff, not just computers. Gaming news is also welcome. Garner people who can blog about the latest and greatest progress in software and hardware tech. The idea is to make OC3D an all-rounder rather than just excelling in the computer category. This will make the site wholesome and will also cater to a wider scope of people, for eg. people who are interseted in smartphones and ultrabooks rather than computers.

Thanks find of down to you lot... Not us.

News wont be coming back, its not worth us spending money on.... YES money on.

News got sacked off because we are about hardware reviews and modding. Not just posting the same old Press releases day in day out. Its a complete waste of time for us.

It will NOT be returning.

Wasn't having a go mate, still a regular to the forums. Just noticed that it is more chilled and less chaotic than normal lol
Look forward to seeing what new twists and turns you all have in the pipeline.
