fitting head around cpu

Ok, i have been running my Mach II st since august last year - its been ok like, but my temp tends to read between 0 and sometimes as high as 20. now i dont know if this is because im running an ST controller board, or if its the way i have fitted the unit around the cpu. just wondering if someone can point me to a tutorial on the most effecient way of fitting the unit. i also have another question not related to this but, i am running one of the new abit boards which uses uGuru technology. theres problems with this board in such that it doesnt read below 0 degree's celcius, and also that i dont know of any other program other than the uGuru program that can read the temperature of the cpu. does anyone know of a program that will work with an Abit KV8-Pro and will give temp readings below 0....?

no the diode of the mobo fails to go below 0,

use an eternal probe.

as for the cpu mounting, take it aprt and look for condenstation, if there is a big jump in temps look at removing / adding some washers to get better contact.
