Finding ICs

As many of you know i managed to blow up a chip on a 7800GT. For those of you who don't..i did. and it wasn't the GPU.

Looks like leadtak arn't very interested in repairing it, so does anyone know where i can get Specific ICs, information on those ICs, possibly diagrams of the card and somewhere i can buy them?

do you have the name of the ic or is it completly destroyed ?

usually its often easy to find information about a specific ic through google and stores can sometimes be found in the yellow pages.

Well on the leadtek board it was 475 then somthing that was totaly burned. Looked like an R

And on my XFX one its D56D then 12 perpendicular to it.

The 7800GT IC referance is Q502

I've tryed google to no avail. If you find something i missed by all means correct me.

where is the chip located on the card ?

which form does the ic have ?

and how many legs does it have ?

Its a small 6 pin IC. I think its a voltage controler, possibly a darlington pair. Its at teh back of the card above the PCE-E connector.

What do you mean when you say form?

an ic is usually square or rectangular and can have legs on 1 2 or 4 sides.

dont think i have ever seen one with legs on only 3 sides.

i saw an image of the broken ic in another thread and i can do something constructive.

i will not do it now, way to tired and its half a day past bedtime but when i have gotten some sleep i will rip out my card and take a look.

sitting with a leadtek 7800gt and the ic isnt covered by the heatsink so should be an easy check :)

If youve got a leadtek one go for it. But my XFX one has a different chip on it, that does the same thing.

farnell electronics

rapid electronics

rs electronics

all have huge stocks of chips if u can get the chip number off ic or get another card to read the chup number off of if its only v reg or transistor pack they wuill prob be able to get you one then it shouldnt be hard to fix

okey im up and awake and found out the computer didnt work so good with no monitor hooked up

but here is what i found.

i might have gotten the 16 upside down.

SC2128C-D53D : Remote Fan Control ic For Electronic Fan Application

just for the record, using ravens info, i have done some serious number hunting and managed to nail down a manufacturer then got good old google to translate it so i could hunt down the chip on their site:

ok, well cos of the translation i cant link straight to the page  so heres the info they got on the site:
