Finally started my new build

What about the regular 680 backplate? 670 FTW has the same PCB as a 680 and I can't really spot any differences between the two backplates.

Well, yeah... It does say GTX680 instead of GTX 670, but I'm sure your creative mind and painting skills can solve this? ;)
Could always spraypaint the entire backplate white, or stripes, or whatever :p
good idea mate... i just had a look on ebay and they're available for almost half the price of the 670 backplate... weird one :) i guess i could get a 680 backplate and just re spray it... would give me more to do:p

i've just installed the led strips... will upload some pics soon :)

Glad I could make myself useful :D

I do expect pics of how you do it though, I might have to do the same

i'll definitely make some pics if i re spray the backplate :D
and if it looks shite you know how not to do it:lol:

another update!!!

it's update time :)

today i've fitted the led strips...
i think it turned out pretty nice... it's a little bright but the more i look at it, the more i like it:biggrin:

i first cut the strips i needed and soldered them together...

for the ssd's

then the strip for the other hardware
img550o.jpg

i first wanted to do a third strip for the front but it just didn't look right

i've then fitted the led strips

the ssd strips

and the other one

next thing i'll be doing will be braiding the cables, that will take a while... but first i'm gonna install windows and all that crap:)

still waiting for the fan controller... and i'll probably buy a backplate for the 670 so that'll be another task:biggrin:

tell me what you think!!!
thanks for watching

more updates to come...

Work is ecxellent...as usual - Good job. I find them just a little to bright, but i guess you´ll get used to it pretty fast.
Is there any way of feeding them a little less power without making a big project out of it?

cheers mate!
if you feed them less then 12v they start to flicker... i found out because i first wanted to use the led switch of the case so i would have been able switch the led's on and off, but it only feeds 11.4v and they've started to flicker which was annoying...

sorry that the switch on the case didn't work out! i know i like having the switch on mine because i keep them off most of the time.

how do you like the light you're getting from them? is it what you wanted?

Love this build. Awesome job and I think the lighting is just right. The cable management at the back is superb :)
cheers mate... i hope it'll look the same after i've braided the cables :)
i also like the lighting i think it suites the rig:D

never mind... i'll figure something out...
i like the light, the color is nice, they're a little bright but it's alright.

To bad.....would like to have a dimmer on that ;-) Guess u cant win´em all....
i'll figure something out :D

Your new rig is really coming on nicely! I love the lighting it illuminates the stuff inside very well and looks like the gateway to heaven too me :D.
I personally would have liked to see crystal clear coolant in a custom watercooling unit for at least the CPU it would have looked mint!
But this is not a criticism just a personal opinion as i belive it is up to you how you want things to be. Anyway your doing a great job and i can't wait to see the finished rig.

i'd love to go full watercooling:rolleyes:, thats why i bought the 670 ftw, but at the moment i can't afford it. for now i'll have to be happy with the h100i:)

tiny update...

it's time for a tiny update...

tonight i've started to braid the ax760i cables... havent got far yet. just done the 8 pin yet, but i thought i'll let you have a look how they look like:D

img583c.jpg

i really like the way it looks:D
img584r.jpg

i'm gonna continue braiding tomorrow... i've got this funny feeling that i will run out of paracord before i'm finished. i've bought 100 feet but i don't think it's enough

more updates to come...

Those braided cables look amazing. Nicely done! I have to get me some material so I can start doing some braiding myself.
