Who in the uk has fiber and what area are they at? I am in north east scotland and my area is getting fiber soon. My current download speed is about 12 MB/s how much faster will it be?

I think bog standard virgin is 30meg minimum they bumped me up from 10meg about 9months ago for free so not bad all in all

20 is the min(its what I get,I was on the 10 as well).
I think the min for NEW customers iirc.

Got VM Cable / Fiber here. 100Mb, usually get around 12MB per/sec(that's megaBYTE not megaBIT)
One thing I will say, they doubled everyone's speed last year and their infrastructure can't handle it properly yet, ping/latency can be a totaly bag of crap at peak times. Don't forget VM have tv on their fiber network as well and believe me the tv takes priority.
We've had a cable line in since the Diamond Cable days, (before ntl, and virgin) when cable broadband was first available in the uk I remember going from dial up at 56k to a 150k broadband and was like WOW! ah.. how things change

We were on the bog standard 20mb until virgin media bumped us up to double October just gone. Overall their service is good, but like already mentioned it appears their hardware cant hack it yet.
If you go with VM i suggest you get yourself a good router and run their supplied POS "super hub" in modem mode.

Got mine up a little bit
The other week they came and installed wifi router's throughout all of the halls where I live, I know all of our internet comes underground from the main campus because they dug it up by accident once but I don't know at what point if at all it's fibre, I don't know much about big scale internet Uni use. Still have copper at home that goes into the roof from a big pole in the street 
This is our new uni provided wifi.
And this is my little router running off the old ethernet that is just starting to be forgotten about.

Recently moved to Swindon and the area I'm at isn't projected to get fibre for a good while yet. Just moved down from Lanarkshire and the area I was in is getting fibre this time next year. Just can't catch a break with it really.
Only plus is the move tripled my broadband speed but the connection is gash now and keeps dropping. Sitting about 15mbps though so not too bad.

4 down 0.3 up here :L the nearest town to me just got fibre and all of my mates are loving it. Only a few hundred houses on this exchange so I can't see them bothering for a fair while :/

where i live wont be getting fiber for a long time
currently have 10-13 Mb/s on ADSL so not too bad i guess, my college has a monster connection 100 Mb/s / 80 Mb/s (down/up)

pretty happy with it, dont get nearly as many outages as we used too, and getting a free bump for christmas.
