Faulty RAM?

I've recently started building a new rig and i've had a couple of problems so far. At first it wouldn't boot at all. Turns out to be a faulty CPU. Now I've just gotten a new CPU from RMA, but it still wont boot. The POST is saying that it can't detect the memory, and there's an LED on the mobo, called DRAM_LED, flashing red (I assume that's bad, as the CPU_LED was lit up in fixed red, when the CPU was faulty.)

Anyway, I'm new to building rigs, so I hoped there was some experienced folks on here, ready to help (:

Here are the specs (bear in mind that it's an upgrade from an older system):

ASUS Crosshair V Formula

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T @3.3GHz

Nvidia GeForce GTX280

2x4GB Kingston HyperX Genesis

750W PSU

Edit: corrected a name

Update: Jump to my first post on page 2 for the "new" problem

It has something called a "GO button".. Description taken from the manual: "Press the GO button before POST to enable MemOK! or press it to quickly load the present profile (GO_Button file) for temporary overclocking when in OS." I have tried pushing this button without succes.. Though, I've just noticed that the manual states, that there's an LED that's supposed to be blinking if the MemOK! is enabled, and I see no such thing.. So now I'm wondering if I've done it correctly...?

Sorry I've just re-read your OP. The POST is saying that the memory is undetected - have you made sure they are installed in the right slots and are seated properly?

As far as I know, there's only one way you can plug in it..? I've reseated it a couple of times and tried both sets of slots, but still the same..

Have you tried one stick at a time? Have you got another system that you can try the memory in or any other memory to test?

It "should" be OK. But there is obviously something fundementally wrong if the board can't detect the RAM. So its either the board or ram, the only way to find out is to try the RAM on another board or some other memory on your board.

There is some new low profile vengeance ram out as well - which will be compatable with more cpu coolers. Shame you don't know someone that has got some memory to test.

It's just.. I want to make sure I don't run into the same problem again, if you know what I mean.. I'll look around for some low profile sticks if I ever need it, it's not like RAM is expensive (: But since you didn't chop my head off for asking about the vengeance, I guess I'm going to order a pair

Just noticed that the KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX HyperX memory is 1.65v. The vengeance is 1.5v which should have less compatability problems, just make sure its on the QVL to be safe.

Just got the new sticks, but it's still the same.. Guess I'll have to try to RMA my mobo..

Bummer! You'll get there eventually.

K, it turns out that if the error shows to be one not covered by the guarantee, I will be charged with a price equal to 2 new boards.. So because of that, I'm thinking of buying a fresh one instead.. If you don't mind, I'd like you to give a piece of advice; New Crosshair V Formula or the Sabertooth?

The Sabertooth is about 400DKK(£40) cheaper

I was going to get the Crosshair until I realized that the Sabertooth has more SATA ports, why? Who freakin' knows, Asus is stupid. That right there is making me side with the Sabertooth this go around.

But, as far as board and OCability go, they should be the same. Both have the 8 +2 phase DigiVRM+ power, both are running the 990FX chipset. Only thing I can really see that's much different is that you get the X-Fi audio and ROG Connect on the Crosshair V.
