Fan controllers

Hi folks,

I've got 14 fans in my PC, 10 are Corsair SP 120mm 1450's in push and pull and 4 are Corsair AF 140mm 1150's, and I was going to hook them up to my Scythe Kaze Master 6 channel controller to keep the PC as cool and quiet as possible.

My question is, are they needed when running a watercooled loop or do people just use the 5v or 7v dropper cables on a molex straight to the PSU, or do you use something else.

Most people use 5v/7v cable reducers just because you will not change the speed of the fans that often, heck maybe once for summer and again in the winter depending where you live, but in most cases never.
Also using a fan controller makes it harder to hide all that clutter and doesn't give you that much of a bonus. I for one have a fan controller because I like it as a gimmick and I like to see at what rpm are my fans running at even though it's pointless :D.

i used to have one in my CM elite 430, but in my switch 810 i have 2 of These but only using one.

Thanks for the replies, that's why I asked whether they are needed or not :D.

The problem I have is the room where my PC is, rarely gets below 21.5c ambient and in the summer (when we have one) can reach over 30c, so if a 5/7v dropper will do the same as a fan controller, would I be better off with dropper cables like the ones linked above.

a controller just lets you speed up the fans if you need it but the dropper cables will let you create a much neater looking rig as you're not running all your fan cables to one location.

Very true, so many cables to hide, and the back of the mobo tray looking like a car crash in a spaghetti factory lol.

Dropper cables it is then :D.

you should see the back of my switch :P i didn't even try lol.

which out with your PSU and dropper cables my OCZ didn't like having more than one dropper cable connected at a time.
