F@H for a newb

Hello everyone at OC3D

My name is Izzoks first time poster, long time reader. Yesterday I finished my new gaming rig and I started reading up on folding etc. As a student nurse and a pretty hardcore gamer I am very interested in protein folding and would like some help getting setup. I have read the FAQ and I will be honest I am a tad lost.

- I currently have the folding program from http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download

- It is running in the background and the display looks like this: http://s902.photobucket.com/albums/ac226/Izzoks/?action=view&current=ProteinIhave.jpg&newest=1

- I was wondering how to get it to show this kind of display (I have an AMD card) : http://s902.photobucket.com/albums/ac226/Izzoks/?action=view&current=theUIIwant.jpg&newest=1

- I am also wondering how to make the F@H program use more of my GPU and CPU while my computer idle's or while I'm at work or the hospital etc.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

PS: forgive my terrible grammar and spelling English is not my first language.

That other viewer is from the v7 beta client, also you need to raise the priority of the folding clients manually to allow it to use more resources.

first of all. welcome to the house of awesome people!!..

i use FAH GPU Tracker to fold.. easy and simple apps to configure.

Alright I got this up and working but its not detecting my GPU, it tells me no compatible Nvidia GPU found (makes sence I have an AMD) how do I get it to work my GPU.

update: I have manually enabled on GPU0 an ATI6XXX. Not sure if I am doing this right

Update 2: k so now I have my cores running at 100% (all 4) and my GPU is running at like 95-98% according to MSI AB.

Update 3: its been about i,d say 10 minutes, my CPU has been going full tilt and I don,t even have 1% done yet, my GPU is 95-98% and I have 5% done (CPU is project 6068 and GPU is 5736). Are these normal speeds, is this slow. Anyone got a yard stick they could lend me to know how good / bad this is or is this normal.

Sorry for multiple edits I'm just nerding out about how cool this is.

10 minutes? nah that's pretty normal, be sure to have one core/thread completely free for your ATI card, so it won't slow em both down.

Also be sure to make the GPU client a higher priority then the CPU/SMP client.

And last but not least, don't use the viewer. It is know to be a resourcehog, and quite buggy (although the v7 client has a rewrite so it could be better).

Welcome to the joys of Folding
