Expected overclock on 6850

Hiya! I've got a pc with C2D 6850 evga mobo 780i, 2x2gb g.skill 1066 ram , freezer 7 pro cooler, 800w generic PSU from tigerdirect i think haha, and an 8800gtx..for now.

I'm going to be buying a new vid card or two and I'm going to need to push my cpu to ease the bottleneck a bit.

Anyone have any expected values for what would be stable or where I should probably start it at I'm thinking I want to get at least a stable 3.5 else I won't even bother, any clues?

You should first try making the processor run at 2.5Ghz and see if it is stable.

The 8800 card is a good choice, but if you have a budget then maybe we can fish something else out for you.

Sorry I guess I didn't explain myself well at all. The specs listed are my current pc. I'm looking to buy just a new video card in the near future HD4870.

The 6850 stock is 3.0ghz so... I assume its stable at 2.5 as well?

My system has been running as is for a few years now with no issues. I'm currently using the windows 7 beta, flawlesssssssss

I mistaken the processor for another one.

Well then your processor should be able to do 3.5Ghz as long as you have decent cooling, and you do it right.

Run towards that HD4870!

Alright check it, I set my vcore to 1.3 and went to 3.5 but in CPU-Z my vcore shows up way less, 1.265, I disabled C1E in Bios and throttling stuff, why is it changing on its own?..Thanks! My Mobo also has a setting for FSB Voltage apart from the Vcore voltage, am I supposed to mess with that or leave it on Auto? Picture attached
