EVGA Step up. Worth it?

Hi there

Come pay day I'll be sourcing a new graphics card at long last :)

Im looking at the 7900gs and I'm pretty sure thats good for all my needs at this time.

However.. Is an extra tenner over a vanilla xfx one (taking it to £100) worth it for an EVGA card? Is the step up scheme worth it, if say I have a bit of spare cash the next couple of month to go for an 8800gts or similar?

Cheers guys

EDIT: Just reading there website, all makes no sense to me! Theyre rrp for the 7900gs and the 8800gts is only different by $50? And the price gap here is just about that but in £'s? Man alive im confused :P

I'd prolly go with an eVGA simply for the fact that:

1) Warranty covers overclocks

2) Warranty covers changing stock cooler

3) Very good customer support

4) Step Up program

No, sadly I'm in the UK. Looking on there website cant find anything about getting it stepped up in europe really?

And who really needs an 8800 for a 17inch screen eh :) hah

Will get the EVGA anyway due to the warranty then, cheers vader.

Cheers guys :)

:whack: More power ftw.

Either would be fine tbh. XFX have the double warrenty though, so when you sell if on people in the know are willing too pay more.

Step-up is pretty worthless. They gouge you on the return. You're waaay further ahead if you sell your card on e-bay or a one of these various forums. I'd probably go with XFX because their warrenty is now better than eVGA. eVGA did some crap about how the warranty must be registered w/in 30 days, and isn't transferrable to anyone else.

I would still go with Evga, their customer support is outstanding. I know first hand.

As for registering the product within 30 days, whats the problem with that? Takes a minute at most to register. All you have to do is enter your name and the product serial number.

Cheers guys thanks for the input. Researched the step-up and it isnt all that effective as I'm going for a lower end card, so not really going to offer too much in the trade in front..

In terms of shifting it afterwards, my step brother gets all my old stuff, at a grossly inflated price :)

How much should a 6800 gs agp be worth in the current market? 50 quid I'm saying, very fair I think :)

Cheers!
