EVGA GTX 980Ti

Hey lads,

Was wondering if you think I should wait a bit more before ordering the EVGA 980Ti Reference design, due to possible drice drop that AMD has launched their new GPUs.

Or if I should just go ahead and pull the trigger?...

I also based in Sweden if that is any information at all regarding possible price drops or so.

Thanks,
Chrazey

If you can hold out a little longer, I would. That's what I'm doing anyway. I'm even tempted to wait until after summer is over.

A lot of the games announced at E3 don't come out until November, which will be a good reason to upgrade :).

Considering how well they are selling I doubt that the prices are going down any time soon unless AMD put some massive pressure on. Suppose you'll have to wait for the Fury X reviews, I would anyway just incase they totally smash it. But if your going to buy a 980 Ti no matter what and you wan when then you may as well buy one now IMO.

Personally don't like to make purchases based on rumours so I'll say that it never hurts to wait, especially when the amd cards are supposed to drop on the 24th this month. Well see then what really happens.
The price might not go down but definitely wont go up.

It can happen when etaiiers don't have the stock to satisfy their back orders. I think a few of the special EVGA 980Ti's went up at OCUK this week.

I bet they will be dirt cheap in 6 months time, but if you want one nao then you must haz. ;)

Thanks guys for your replies!

Haha yeah, only time can tell I assume is a good quote right now hehe :p

Only that it's a pain in the butt to wait for a "possible" price drop... even if there is a price drop, how much do you guys think it would be then?.

Even if the new AMD would smash it, I don't really think I'd go with AMD to be honest here... I've fallen in love with the design and overall with the GTX 980Ti :)

We don't know the full lineup of prices for AMD so we can't tell you how much it will drop by. Honestly I would wait. Thursday(tomorrow for me) is when the 300 series cards are allowed to start selling online. We should see some prices change over the course of the next week. I would wait in all honesty. It's literally around the corner.. don't rush it:p

Quite a stupid question then... should I get the 980Ti or the ASUS ROG Swift first, you think?.

Neither and get AMD. I don't trust Nvidia anymore with how they are running, certainly not enough to spend that much money and then be stuck with them since it's locked to Nvidia only. Your too anxious to buy right now when reviews are just about to come up. You have waited for a while and another couple days won't hurt tbh

Haha, that you are so correct on! ^_^

Edit - How will an EVGA GTX 980Ti behave at 1440p on high settings in most games, you guys think?... with an 144Hz monitor?. Do you think it will cope or fail?.

A guide line would be settings like on High in Battlefield 3 and 4. As I don't really see any difference between High and Ultra.

Thanks guys,
Chrazey

There are benchmarks out there that tell you exactly what you need to know about the performance, especially with battlefield.

AMD tends to perform better on Battlefield anyways.. but honestly look up benchmarks. There's not point in asking for specifics when only you here know what you are looking for. OC3D has done reviews of the 980ti and so has every other review site.

If your having keyboard problems I feel bad for you son, I've got 99 problems and typing 980Ti into the search bar in the top right corner ain't one.

The price might not go down but definitely wont go up.

Prices most certainly can go up if you are stuck with a crashing currency like we have in Norway.

perfect example

November 2014 - Intel i7 4790k (2750Nok)

Today - Intel i7 4790k (3400Nok)
