EVGA GTX 1070 Showdown

I don't really like the direction cooler design is going lately, 2 years ago everything was made to look sleek and clean, pretty much all of the aftermarket coolers i've seen so far look like batmobiles.

I know, personal preference and all, but for me that's a step backwards.

I'm actually going to agree with you on this one... Personally prefer clean and professional look, over something that looks like a kids toy really.

Are they trying to sell these things to kids to play with on the floor or what?...

I still say the EVGA 1000 series are still the best looking GPU's on the market compare to the other companies.

Well people wanted RGB those people gave the companies the green light and look what it was turn into those people only have themselves to blame.

The Jetstream looks alright, but i don't know if they still have those stupid LEDs in the fans.
I don't know why everything needs to be covered in LEDs these days, they are the component which is most likely to die on the GPU, which probably won't hurt the GPU but a dead LED just looks like crap. And even if the LEDs all work it usually doesn't look very good, there is just too much going on, it's like you have a Supra from the Fast and the Furious in your case. I know there are plenty of people who like that sort of thing, but can't they just get LED strips?

This is nothing towards you or personal, so don't take it that way.

That may be true and I have nothing against RGB, matter of fact the opposite... Gives the user the flexibility and opportunity to make it their own.

Although, to make the people blame themselves?... The people didn't tell EVGA to make their GPU look like something taken out of a Transformers movie or Batman for that matter lol.

Like a kids toy in simpler words.

I'm with SeekaX on this, the simpler cleaner cards were by far the most eye catching, you only need to look at the old XFX double dissipations, Gainward Phantoms and the previous EVGA ACX cards. Hell even some of the Club3D cards were nice, still for a theme build like mine the new 1070 Flanders Edition would fit so nicely.

I think you are missing the point i'm trying to make

Companies have asked people what they want on products and people kept pushing for LED's so that have given companies the green light to go full mental on the products to see who can come up with the most tackiest products possible (not pointing any fingers but you all should know who i'm talking about )

What has happen is they have left the people out who don't want the tacky LED's on products there are some of us who prefer the normal LED strips, While yes you can turn it of in the BIOS still there are some of us who don't want them at all.

The issue is pretty minute if I'm honest and being blown way out of proportion, there are RGB LEDs, if you don't want them turn them off. They are only LEDs at the end of the day it's not the end of the world, they won't draw 6m Kwh and cost next to nothing an have zero impact on the card RRP.

Not like the KFA2 cards I have where we didn't know the fans were LED lit and you can't turn them off either, also nothing in the product description to say they were illuminated either.. anyway I digress it's not a major problem. You either live with them or make them work to your advantage.

I wanted this so bad back when it released. Looked good and it beat everything.

Don't see many Club3D cards lately *Cough Tom ;) even the R9 390X Royal Queen was a good looking card, a bit of a porky beast but still a good looking card.

^What Wraith said.

They all look better than our old Red, Green or Blue pcb's with solder everywhere, a half shroud and 40mm fan of yesteryear.

If you don't like it don't buy it. Simple.

Then i'll end up buying nothing. Not turning the cards into transformers doesn't mean they have to look like Voodoo cards, there are plenty of screenshots in this thread proving that card design can be done right. How are things supposed to improve if nobody says anything just to avoid conflict? This is a forum, it's meant for exchanging opinions, not just patting each other on the back.

Nobody said don't say anything or don't have an opinion so I'm not sure where you got that from.

The cards are constantly evolving. We complained that they were plain and boring. Then we complain when they're too bright and gawdy. The public will vote with their dollars and either buy them or not.

I'm sure one day we'll reach the 'Edsel' point of the design world and go back to basics.

Personally the EVGA cards don't look great to me. Especially the 1080 Classy with the red mesh. I don't mind the FTW so I'd say that's the pick of the bunch.

Can we get more cards that look like this one here, please?

Nope, i can see at least for another couple of years.

I have watched quite a few Computex videos and the problem is that companies and all they want to talk about is damn RGB's they don't even want to talk about anything else it's all about RGB's
