I would be very interested in seeing what a 512MB version of the 7800 GTX would be capable of doing. Maybe by the time the X1800 XT makes it to market we will have a 512MB 7800 GTX as well.

It could also be the reason why the X1800XT is able to achieve 9000 points in 3dmark05, or it could be driver optimised.

It remains to be seen and we will only really know when 7800GTX 512MB performance is realised. What we can see is that the gaming performances of the XT and GTX are relatively equal, that extra 1400 points in 3dmark05 has to come from something??

Bottom line, is great performance in Direct X games, still sucks in Open GL.

It's veyr early days, and performance will get better with better drivers. 3dmark 05 means **** all, unless your are a benching god like Mav or Gollum or anyone else who is a team player.

Benchmarks have and never will translate to gaming, accuractly.

Im impressed with the numbers, but not with the availabilty and pricing.
