7970 Lightning

what program u use to get higher speeds?, it does look weird tht i got more fps, but it could me hitting the cliff in power/mhz

power as in volt/amp, you do use catalyst 12.3?

At the moment this is my stable clock/volt settings. And yes i am running AB12.3

As you can see by the results theres not that much of an improvment. Im goin to stick to a lower clock that is a lot cooler and i only loose 0.5 of a frame.

id say memmory wont do alot to fps but i might be wrong, im just new to this tho.

That is still super impressive. I remember you telling me your average frame rate in BF3, but I can't remember what you said. I think it was above 70, but just to clarify would you be able to run a BF3 benchmark (both stock and OC'd)? No worries if you can't though

Since you can not run benchmarks on BF3 i ran FRAPS for a few games when playing online . The results are as follows.

Metro: Average- 86 FPS Highest- 123 FPS Minimum- 30 FPS

Seine Crossing: Average- 74 FPS Highest- 112 FPS Minimum- 39 FPS

Caspian Border: Average- 69 FPS Highest- 92 FPS Minimum- 41 FPS

Wake island: Average- 71 FPS Highest- 105 FPS Minimum- 9 FPS

All these games were played in one sitting spanning 3 hours. This is with stock clocks with everything set to ultra.

Overclocking the card you see a light difference but not much. I ran the same maps OC @ 1170 on the core 1600 on the mem, There is a difference of 2 to 5 FPS but that could just be where i went on the maps or how long the match lasted. (Well within the margin of error)

Nice card mate, debating between this one, the Asus 7970 DirectCU II TOP and a GTX680 myself.

At the moment the Asus 7970 is the cheapest and quietest solution so I'm leaning towards that.. but I'd love to be able to overclock the sh*z out of a 7970 lightning
