Hi, Ive just built my new rig which has weird problem, it worked fine for about a week
but now it wont boot up first time, it always takes a couple of attempts.
On a cold boot boot, the case fans spin, the GFX card fan spins but there is
no display.
this new PSU has the power guard facility with a reset button, LED + buzzer.
The buzzer is silent and the LED is green, so its detecting no power problem.
The case doesnt have a speaker so I dont know if there are any POST beeps.
I can tell if its going to boot or not because the USB mouse and keyboard dont
light up if its not going to boot, as though its halted before its got as far
powering the usb devices.
I can press the case power button quickly to turn it all off and restart it,
then it will boot up completely normally, the OS doesnt activate safe mode or
show any evidence of the improper start, becuase it all happens before the POST.
Ive read on other forums about combinations of enermax galaxy psu's, 8800 cards
and P35T DQ6 mobos where the pc refuses to POST with PCI- Express cards installed
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17790001&highlight=enermax+galaxy
My gfx card has 2 6p power connectors, the PSU has 2 native 6p power adapters,
should I use the native 6p connectors or attach one of the modular 6ps so that
the power requirment is more split?
Ive taken the PC apart a number of times but I cant eliminate this problem.
Ive tried many different BIOS settings including reseting the bios and running
optimised defaults, currently Ive manually set the PCI freq to 101 as opposed to
AUTO, I believe that the card needs 100.
Why it worked fine for the first week is eluding me, obiously something has changed
in that time.
Its one of those wierd problems.
Thanks for your time
