It`s pretty astounding, in the UK, that there aren`t more stores than this.

Or - it could be there are 100s of stores, but only a good 5 to 10 of them are used by enthusiasts.

Enthusiasts rarely go back to a store after a line of bad experiences.

il be buying my new RAM from ebuyer soonish

i have 2 slots on my motherboard .. one is taken up by a PC2 5400 1GB and i was thinking of buying and extra 1GB to make it 2GB but for an extra £20 i could get a 2GB RAM card which would make the whole thing 3GB .. is it worth paying an extra £20 for 3GB?

As far as I can tell, EBuyer tend to sell warehouse stock surplus etc from other larger companies for the most part.

Plus a lot of stuff tends to be generic asian imports.

(not being funny, But I got a USB 2.0 card imported from china, at less than a quarter of the price it would have cost from my local discount store.)

ebuyer lacks stock for a lot of things and scan is great for like coolers and stuff.

also, newegg is selling the xfx 280gtx for $520, while ebuyer is selling zotacs version for 350 pounds, which equates to something like $680. am i reading that right? do you guys really get hit that hard in the u.k.?

You can pick up an Asus GTX280 for £310 over here. You also have to bear in mind that US prices are exclusive of tax where ours in the UK tend to include our VAT.

But yeah we do get hit quite a bit.

hehe state tax in the US varies, but it`s nonimally around 8.5%.

Think with their Tax online is that ur doing an inter-state purchase, which u don`t pay tax on ... I *think*. Everytime I buy something in a shop they ask my zip code.

im in ohio, rast. our tax is 7.25%. and you are correct, interstate commerce is not taxed. one of the advantages of doing things online here in the estati uniti. my buddy used to regale me with stories of his time in england paying the queens taxes. brutal.

when i was over there i was gagging everytime i had to buy something. came home and filled out my duty free paperwork and got a check for like $225 back. just in taxes. crazy.

Yes we do, it's lucky I have come contacts in the US to get me the deals from Newegg

Never heard of these guys before, they do seem quite cheap though what are the delivery fees like?
