Earlier today my pump stopped pumping on me.

So about 30 minutes ago I went into panic mode because my CPU core temps at idle were at about 60 degrees a quick prime 95 for about 2 seconds and they were over 100 degrees. So I knew shit was bad.

I played around with the hosing elevating it a bit, checked the pump to make sure it was in the res (in case it moved a bit) by pushing on it and lastly I sort of tilted the case every which way.

Somehow between the combination of those three things I got the pump, pumping again. There were air bubbles in my loop. I'm not experienced enough to know what could have caused this and how to sort of troubleshoot it in the future.

When the pump started pumping again it sounded horrible. I removed the fill port from the res to get the air out and after a few seconds it all was fine again.

Pump is a laing ddc, Alphacool Laing Repack DDC 5.25 Bay Station, alphacool xt45 480mm radiator and Alphacool NexXxoS XP3 waterblock.

Pump is obviously the problem here. You will need to take out the pump and get an RMA/Refund/Replacement.

On this Forum we generally always go for D5 pumps. Very few have ever failed.

might just be a lose power connection as well check to make sure the pins are fully seated. But yeah D5's rock

Yeah it was a price thing. The pump was definitely on. What I think might have been the issue was that the pump got a bit loose and if it's just slightly out it actually won't pump the water. Yeah D5's were my initial choice but it was sort of just a price thing. For $300 the alphacool kit was a nice start.

In April I'll either get a D5 or another DDC so I have a bit of redundancy.

I wouldn't worry about the noise the pump made when it came back on, it just makes that noise when it has air going through it, which probably happened after you'd tipped it around. I think it sounds like a connection came loose too, so just keep an eye out to see if it happens again, and then I'd start getting worried.

Thanks for your input mate. It's running nicely at the moment. I'll keep an eye on it, in the coming months.

I would be looking into getting another pump as a back up just in case, also like was previously stated the nasty noise you heard was more than likely air in the system since it went away as you re-bled the pump.

Glwd to see i'm no the only one witth this issue. Been using 18w ddc for years but getting a d5 with ek res combo arriving today so should all be well
