Lo All

Am beginning to dabble with overclocking...

CPU is running at stock volts....and system is currently running at 333x9.

To get a better clock is it simply a case of lifting the FSB until i get instability...then up the voltage??

just tried booting at 1400mhz FSB.... (pretty modest oc) managed to get into windows but kept getting a message on screen relating to the bios saying cpu out of parameters...

can u guys help?

It could be referring to temps or voltage, make sure those are in acceptable ranges. Max CPU temp at load shouldn't be over 60C tops; low 50's would be better. For volts usually keep it within about 10% of stock, unless you're using water or other advanced cooling.

There are a lot of other parameters that you are going to need to play with in order to achieve your max stable overclock. These paramaters include your boot strap, ram divider, ram timings, cpu voltage, mem voltage, chipset voltage, making sure all of the "extra" options of your CPU are disabled (C1E and EIST), etc. Some of the guides around here should definately get you on the correct path.

Thanks all...

I have much to learn....can someone link me to the most appropriate thread in for OCing my C2D please.

The temps were deffo not an issue....so that can be crossed off...

HardOCP posted a review on this board this week saying that with the current BIOS oc sucks.

Pretty much panned Asus for releasing a $400 board without a decent BIOS.

And... it's done :) http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=7110

@BUFF: Sounds like an abit move. Looks like their might be light on the horizon for the AW9D-MAX with the 1333 strap release coming up. End users probably won't be able to get their hands on that BIOS until Q1 07 though :( Naughty abit! :fish:

Strangely enough there is a post on a large UK etailer's forum from 1 of their staff saying that abit's IN9 32X-MAXs are ready to go now (which fits what I was originally told by abit staff as to eta) but that they are being held back for BIOS development ...

Hopefully that's a good thing... The way abit is touting the IN9 as the best clocking board of all time, etc etc it better live up to that @ launch.

I'm going to be heavily considering the DFI RD600 though, that board looks like the complete package.
