dying HDD?

ello guys/gals

got a bit of a weird problem at the moment

what are the chance of my HDD is dying from the following 'effects'

reboots - it may or may not show my raptor during POST

reboots - Missing NTLDR(i think thats what its called....)

reboots - BIOS, may or may not show my raptor

i have no idea when it started, because the PC is always on, 24/7, i just found it out a few days ago when i installed a new printer and after a reboot it kept saying NTLDR missing.....

however! i do have another HDD in the same system, but it shows up everytime i check in BIOS or POST.

HDD dying yes?

[tried different SATA cables, Power cables, Sata Sockets]

thanks

Are you clocked up? If you're starting to have cpu/memory degredation from too much volts for too long you may have to kick it down a notch. All of those symptoms listed could be caused by an unstable overclock.

It would appear that your hard drive is definitely ready to kick the bucket. Have you run a SMART scan on it to see what the drives integrity looks like?

thats the problem.....!

its in stock form....it WAS running with a high clock, but not the same HDD.

i would understand the clock eatting bits and bobs away, but all these was using stock clock and volts plus a new HDD....well i say new, its from a old system....

i've now managed to get it down to...........

[first boot = no 1st HDD but 2nd HDD shows]

[second boot = 1st and 2nd HDD shows]

[third boot = no 1st HDD but 2nd HDD shows]

so every boot up i do, it goes missing, then comes back on the next.

weird eh?

There's a wealth of info on this on google mate. I had it a few times on my P5N-E, tried a few fixes till one worked.

Mine was caused by duff ram though.

yip that is weird..

Humm by the way, NTLDR is, if not mistaken one of the first files in order to load up windows, without it u cant boot completly.
