Yo ladies, was playin on FM 2day for sumtime, i turned it of and close down my computer after that, and i took my computer to a mates, i then set up my comp and went to play FM and it said, please inset correct cd blah blah, so i checked my cd drive and it was boilin hot, i looked at the front of the cd drive and the light was on, tried to open the drive and it wont, looked in the folder "my computer" and it doesnt show up, after taking the power out of drive and leavin it to cool down, i then pluged everything back in but still have the same problem, any idea y its suddely decided to stop workin?
 
well it was really quite hot, so thas why i let it cool down to a "normal" temp, unless its still hot inside, it might just be one of those stupid things and will work when i next wake up
 
does it show up in BIOS?

have you checked all cables?

get the disc out by using a paperclip in the little hole and then restart.
 
One of my IDE cables once decided to commit suicide. Try looking for it in the bios like dave said. also try switching it to the slave port on your secondary IDE cable (will be the middle clip on the cable, the rest should all be labeled on the motherboard) and if all else fails , pick up a CD-DVD RW from ebuyer for like £16
 
ive tried my mates cd drive in there and its working fine, so im guessing it is the drive
