Some of these computer I receive to work on require a few pictures to be taken for the fun of it. Amazing how dusty some are inside, probably never cleaned out a single time.

Ah that reminds me of a till that I had to recently change the hard drive on. It was around 6 years old and was so full of dust it was like wool :s.

......and some people wonder why they keep getting Blue screens of death, and sudden shutdowns. These people need educating.

any idea what the fault is with that one? (aside from over-heating)

That does look like quite a large build up, it looks like they were working in a woodwork/builders type of place, god knows!

Hmeh, most prebuilt machines only come with one fan; an exhasut one at the back. Obviously the negative air pressure is going to be pulling dust in, and when the owner puts in on the floor like most people do, has pets, smokes or w/e dust is going to build up pretty quickly.

The manufacturer probably doesn't really care, as by the time dust starts becoming a serious issue the warranty period has usually ended anyway, and this way they don't have to pay for a second fan/ different case design.

This must be an old pc considering that the only dell pc i've seen with that cooling design had windows xp stickers on it.
It was stupidly heavy.

Hell no! If everyone was educated to this simple and lets face it common sense approach I'd be out of a job.

I've found all sorts in customers systems from regular dust to spiders nests even stationary like pen lids, staples, paper clips even mouse eggs.

Mouse eggs? I actually had to google that  :p Now i'm confused, do mice actually lay eggs? Oh god, mind bending, melting...

Mice do lay eggs, it's really rare and baby pigeons hatch out of the eggs. That's why you don't really see baby pigeons because it's that rare. (Me rambling crap is now over)

Holy moly! I never knew that! I mean... er yes.. i did.. What if everyone has known this while i hav... *shuffles to into the corner* :p

Its an old Dell XP machine, can see the IDE cable coming from the optical drive in the pic. And it is a Samsung drive but actually 160GB. The computer was down to a crawl throwing cyclic redundancy checks. Hard drive took a poop.
