Okay,

Today I was reading my A+ book.

And it started talking about Memory, and how Tri-Channel memory.

And Duel Channel Memory are the exact same memory sticks mhz, manufacturer, Cache, ect.

So with that in mind.

Could you take a whole but of a higher speed Dual Channel Set's buy a few and set them up in a Tri-channel board?

Such as 6 slot's buy 3 set's of dual channel ram.

To get the higher speed you want, and the same size.

Cause I can't find 12 gigs of 1866mhz ram for my motherboard.

But if I can do that and it would be Tri-Channel why the hell not!

Idea's thoughts?

As long as the speed and everything matches you'll be fine. Ram can only run as fast as the slowest stick. The only difference between dual channel and triple channel, is dual comes with two sticks, and tri comes with 3. Same sticks. You'd have to buy 3 dual channel kits to setup on a triple board. Anything more or less than 3 or 6, will run in single channel.

It depends on the kit, sometimes you can push them past their specified speed, as long as you play with the timings and voltage, it really depends on the kit though.
