Depending on the success of this project phil will you venture into selling these more often too?

My mach II is fubared and am now saving up again for a new one and wondering what this kind of thing would set me back too ;)

Just out of curiosity... and damn nice work by the way :D

Brings a tear to my eye :)

We're developing these with an eye to selling them - but what you have to appreciate is the workload here plus the fact there are twice as many things that can go wrong :D.

If we do sell these, they're going to over £1000 each.

:D I better get saving me pennies then... forms of payment:- 100,000 pennies :)

Cheers for the quick replys as well phil ;)

Its soooo cool your doing this phil.

Although it has been done before with ultra extreme home brew stuff on multiple cascade, im looking forward to what ep comes up with in terms of gpu mount / condensation proofing. (more chrome with that sir?)

As gorby said, it's great that a dual head phase change unit is being done professionally - with SLI, the rigs will start to look like a hydra!

There any possibility of a tri-head unit Phil, for the SLi nutters?

Dont forget the Nvidia cards throttle at a certain temperature so theres no point using phase-change on the cores.

I dont even know if this model will see the light of day, its too problematic to be viable (at the moment anyhow).

Condensation proofing at those temps is an absolute nightmare, i had to totally cover the whole card in neoprene and sealstring a good quarter inch thick and i was still mopping up water running down the back of the card.It may be more realistic to shoot for about for about -20/25 at the gpu head and use a heater plate.

Think I'll probably stick to old fashion watercooling on my gpus.

You know the gigabyte dual core cards do you think other manufactures will start doing this, perhaps even ati. Will this phase out SLI after awhile as one card is more practical than two. Although maybe you could use two dual core cards in SLI i.e 4 gpu's :D

I read that ASUS are doing a similar card. T'was on VR-Zone news section I think, with a board shot. Gigabyte are also doing it with other chips not just 6600's, but I think heat will become a major issue here, as the coolers they use are already large and noisy. You have to also think about the fact that the Gigabyte 3D1 will only work in Gigabytes own nF4 SLi board, which is far from the most desirable board available.

I am also gonna stick to good old fashioned Water for graphics, well when I start using it anyway.

yep i would think this is the way graphics cards are gunna go, because not everyone wants to shell out for two cards to get that added power. the 3d1 is only ment to work on the gigabyte board however it also works on the latest asus straight off, its just a matter of a bios update to get most other motherboards going (when they produce the update) for these types of cards. i cannot wait till they come up with a 6800gt sli in one :drools:

whats the temp on load with the chilly1 ???

is the chilly1 ~ 5% better on load than a Macht 2 GT?

macht 2 GT (load) = -35c @ 200w

chilly 1 (load) = ? -@ 200w

So far.. under load -51 degrees. That was with a 1000mhz overclock on the cpu - that was a single chilly1 head. As yet I havent got accurate figures for the dual unit.

I think its possible to get sli and cpu cooling from one mach unit - there is rumours (with piccies) of phase that can do all 3 - although we have yet to see and REAL information (as in reviews).

I know phil is on the case, if they are worthy it will be with us soon - or at least present the opportunity to backwards engineer ;)

Yup...Daz posted about a tri-head unit from China. Sounded like he`d bought one.. Phil had access to specs, but didnt seem 100% impressed. Not my place to say it tho, so I`l leave it there. I think I`d rather have a custom-shop unit from Skinny or Phil...No question about their quality of components, finish or performance there :)

Thing is though.... one compressor, cooling three active heat sources...I`d imagine that theres a lot of scope for the load temps to be pretty poor, I`d rather split the load between multiple compressors or multiple cooling types.

IMHO :)
