Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help me out. One of my 120mm fans on my radiator is broken. It's as though the magnet isn't strong enough or something. You can push the fan (blade part) away from the motor part with your finger, you can also wobble it side to side with your finger. When I switch it on it just wobbles and so hits the sides as well as the radiator, eventually stopping.

Does anyone know if there is anything simple I can do to fix it? I REALLY don't want to take everything apart for the third time..

Thanks, Nick.

Sounds like the bearing has gone and i don't think it can be fixed,it needs replacing.

Sorry to say Nick mate,

U R gonna have to dig deep (at least £4) for a new fan mate - fixing them is not cost effective in todays market.

its not the cost (Phil should replace it anyway) but its the fact that I have to take my rig apart again! Each time I do my cables are looking worse and worse...

How was you gonna fix the broken one? Leave it in there and pray? :D

Only joking nick mate.

One thing I leanred from doing all this stuff, is never have your first installation as your final revision - just slap it all in and make sure it works.

Then take it all out and put it in nice and tidy, if you are as lucky as me thats the time something breaks and you start again LOL

Yup, agreed. Theres nothing worse than going through all the cabling, making it more or less perfect, then hitting power and....nothing. Then having to trace the fault (assuming the kettle lead is plugged in, and I`m sure we`ve ALL missed that at some point!)

I agree i am always changing stuff and trying to make it look better but making it worse :(

Really should get some cable ties and do it proper.....

More on topic ... which fan is it which has broken?

Maybe we can try to avoid it in future?

Thanks,

Michael

It was just a 120mm antec fan that was one my rad. Phil is sending me a replacement though :)
