Do i need Noctua's

Are they really worth the extra money or is there something cheap and quiet for my h70. The noise is really starting to do my head in these days... guess im getting old.

Personally I can't recommend the new Corsair LED SP fans enough, They are quiet at only 1500 RPM and by some wizardry perform nigh on the same as their non LED higher RPM brethren.

yes i have seen those, they look alot nicer than the noctua's as well. I'd like to have a + pressure in my case, i currently have just 1 fan on my h70 blowing out the back, 1 120mm fan on the top blowing out also, 1 120mm sucking in from front with a homemade filter from womens tights, and 1 90mm sucking in on the side with same homemade filter. Obviously this means i have - pressure.

Any tips on the best config? i can fit 1 120 or 140 on top, 2 80/90/120mm on side, 1 120mm on front and 1 120mm on back. dont want to use all slots because i cant afford 5 fans and want it quiet but i also want + pressure.

Best config is to have 1 x SP fan blowing through your H70 and 1 x AF fan sucking out, Numerous tests have been done and for AIO's this is the best config so far, although you could just do it with 1 x SP blowing through the extra AF sucking out will only make 1-2'c difference anyway at the very most.

Best off ditching that 90mm fan as they are stupidly noisy and don't really cool that well.

I'm in the middle of uploading a video I just made showing the noise from the LED SP fans as you said you would prefer something quieter, I'll post it once finished :)

Here you go -

*Bear in mind these videos will depend greatly on your volume, I found setting YouTube player to max volume and Windows volume to 10% gave the most accurate representation of what these actually sound like, Also my camera mic is kind of poop so you will hear static in the background*

Outside the case -

Thanks, do you mean 1 SP blowing out and 1 AF sucking in? i havnt noticed much difference in my temps since i removed the 2nd fan from my h70, only using the 90mm at the moment to try give my graphics card some fresh air its only there temporarily.

Noctua fans are in a different league that Corsair fans in terms of performance. I've worked with both the SP120QE and Noctua fans. They look terrible but if you want dead silent fans with incredible performance there is no way around noctua. The new redux fans don't look bad either.

The Noctua ones that exceed the Corsair SP fans in the static pressure and airflow department are quite a bit more expensive in England though, It's literally double for the Noctua.

It's pretty much double over here as well. If it's worth it everybody has to decide for themselves, i wouldn't have noctuas everywhere in my rig, but one or two for the AIO can be worth it. I wouldn't return my noctua fan.

True they are a good investment, I would get them in a heart beat if they didn't look like a yak, Yakked all over them ^_^

Plus going from 3.1SP on Corsairs fan to Noctuas 3.9SP on their latest wouldn't realistically give much in the way of results without having what sounds like a hoover next to your head :D

The new redux fans don't even look bad. I'd put that in a black themed build. They basically work with every color scheme really.

They do look a lot better than their previous fans but for a radiator the redux ones aren't ideal.

Redux is 1.31 mm H2O and Corsair SP is 3.1 mm H2O, The redux would be good as airflow type fans for intake/non rad out take etc...though :)

There are different redux fans. They are the same as the old ones, just with different colors iirc.

You can also choose BeQuiet! Silent Wings fan too. I change my noctuas to it because it has the same performance unnoticable louder (and its fits to my new rigs theme) but a bit cheeper. And they are black. :)

If you want some LED-s then choose one of Corsair SP led fans.

I was thinking about swapping my Akasa Apache Black's at the weekend for some Noctua NF-F12's but couldn't justify the cost, considering they are £15.74 each and only marginally within a degree or two perform better than my current fans from what I can find around the net.
