Disconnect (no threats intended) just discussion

How safe are we?
After watching discount it got me wondering if we will get safer as technology evolve or weaker.

3 incidents caught my eye:

The boy that attempted suicide.
The boy set up a fake account (as a girl) and send a naked pic of this boy to everyone on school.
Who is the guy/girl we chat to all we know is what we get told and what we see but who are they really? (my pov)

The couple that lost their money
The guy that hacked their account is the one who handles their case. The cause of the boy's suicide is his son. So please all parents look what your children do.
So is anti-virus enough to stop Trojans and I'm asking help on this?
And what happens when all we can do is online shopping or the robots roam the street, how safe are we from hackers?

The dating site
They make a lot of money:p. Is this legal?

(This is a discussion not to harm anyone or anything just a discussion)

He probably refers to the movie Disconnect from 2012: http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt1433811/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

As for all the paranoia goes, I choose to ignore it (to a certain extent ofc). Ignorance is bliss after all :)

LOL, not even paranoid more like curious. Look it would be easy to ignore but I just want to talk about it. I could go to my parents but what the hell do they know about the internet. They ask me why my phone slow when they browsing (low signal)

Well I haven't seen the movie so I can't comment on any of that. As for the whole security thing, I dunno. It basically boils down to human psychology. You know, don't accept candy from a stranger in a van. These sort of things. The technology will advance and get quicker, but human nature will stay the same. There will always be people trying to take advantage of others, and people that will be exploited, willing or unwilling. The internet is just a medium that allows people to do these things in different ways.

I basically grew up with the birth of internet (or internet with pictures) and I was taught not to click on these shiny blinky popups that would eventually slow my computer down.

But nowadays younger generations grow up with all kinds of new tech like phones that you can do anything with. I suppose it's the same for them. Use common sense and don't click on anything, and don't trust the cute guy/gal too much. Think for yourself instead of having blind faith in what the computer says.

I dunno, this is just me ranting. It's a hard question though. I dunno where I'm going with this. Stay safe? perhaps.
