So what is the deal with this card?

I returned my Sapphire 6990 about a week ago and amazon refunded me my money, now i want a new 6990. Unfortunately the Sapphire brand 6990 no longer exists on the Amazon site. So i am looking at the Diamond 6990 but i am reluctant to purchase anything from diamond because they tend to lock their BIOS so overvolting is not an option. Also they are not very mod friendly do to tons of "void if removed" stickers. Is this the case with the diamond 6990?

Does it have a locked BIOS? (I DONT WANT TO FLASH SO DONT ASK)

Does it have the "void if removed" sticker on the back like the powercolor card does in TOMs review?

unfortunately it must be purchased through amazon. it is a $800 amazon gift card i am using.

I think Sapphire did do a recall on there 6990s, they are showing the signs of it. Not one reputable site has them in stock (not counting bidding sites) and a few sites like amazon and newegg have the sapphire 6990 deactivated. My guess is a lot of people were experiencing the same problem i was with my card.

I linked a HIS card in the reply above but kind suspicious of the ship time it may be a typo but I'd check into that lol shipping time 1-3 MONTHS

if it says 1 to 3 months that means its a back order card.

Also i think i may just go with 2 msi 6970s. $314 each so a total of $640 tops (thats with shipping & after rebate) for both

the reason i wanted a 6990 was because it was single slot, and consumed less power.

The MSI card looks to be a good alternative, somewhat likely that MSIs own card would support voltage adjustment. Can't comment on the Diamond card, not a company I've heard of.

They do that in England as well, I think it's to say 'we don't know when it's gonna get here, but it's on its way'.

Diamond is a very old brand I have had good and bad luck with them in the past mostly bad. Some of thier products are spot on but others leave ya frustrated.

theres a power color there but jebus its almost a grand

just get this card and be Happier

and use the rest to buy me a SSD

im looking at the Gigabyte 6990 now. it is shipped through Amazon but they do not have any in stock (they will e-mail me when they have more in stock).

But my top two questions still remain.

is the bios locked?

can it be modded without breaking void?

I know you can change the bios. What I mean by bios lock is that the voltages can't be changed. Like some if the xfx cards.

I want voltage changing options.
