DFI SLi-DR power question

Lo guys,

In my quest to run dual desktop in Sli mode I've come across a PCIE x1 gfx card (the matrox milenium g550 pcie). This card will run in the PCIE x1 slot above the top x16 slot. The only problem is that right next to this slot is the FDD type power connector which is recomended to be used when SLi is enabled. My question is if I unplugged this connector to make way for the matrox card what side effects could I suffer?

Cheers.

In one word Zax mate, stability in 3d gaming - at least thats what DFI would have you believe.

You wont cause any damage by removing it and giving it a go though.

Thats what i'm doing now Mav, I've unplugged it (I've left the HDD type power connector plugged in) and i'm testing the system by benching and gaming. Playing CSS at the mo, so far I haven't noticed any unstability. I'll just keep testing like this, will post up findings. Cheers.

ive ran a dr on a 20 pin atx power supply with no 20-24 pin adaptor, without the floppy or the hd power connectors on the mobo connected and never had any stability issues whatsoever, you should be fine and anyway it wont die in the process so have a play on your pc and youll soon find out if its gone tits up :P
