DFI NF4 SLI - BH5 or VX4000??

So far with BH-5 I have achieved 265 @ 2-2-2-5 with 3.5v, which is nice, but I am twitching for a bit more bandwidth.

I am trying to burn em in up to 275 2-2-2-6 - but I think it will take a while.

It may just be the luck of the draw, I am waiting for Minstadave to get going with his new batch of BH-5 - if they perform in the 270's then I may get me some.

What would be realy cool is for someone to have both and post some results of each stick running the same benchies at the same speeds ( say superpi 32m @ 275 2-2-2-6) and see what difference there is.

Looks like it's a close run thing though.

is a day likely to come when ALL bh5 will do 300fsb at 2-2-2 timings? youll probably need Sizewell B to give em enough volts tho :D

Right mines here, TwinMOS speed premium BH-5 :D

Not on the brainpower PCB though, not sure how much that matters.

Just over £90 for a gig, bargain.

Pics and benches to come.

Right here we go, some first results, with no burning in, all settings to auto except CAS, tRP, tRCD and tRAS which are set to 2-2-2-7.

Bank intervleave and cpc are on.

Only some short memtest runs at first as I have loads of work to be doing too, will do some longer runs this evening.

3.2V got me 230 2-2-2-7

3.4V got me 240 2-2-2-7

Word of warning, this MOSFET gets hot when you change the jumper for Vdimm above 3.2V, I have a nice blister to prove it. Now have a 60mm fan blowing over it.

Giving the RAM some burn in while I work on my dissertation.

I did the Same thing Dave - touched it and boy it gets hot.

I am using a 60mm fan on it too.

Now it is just warm to the touch (40 degrees ish?)

Let us know how you get on as you continue burning it in.

Cheers

Having a serious burn in session today, throws up errors in memtest at anything over 3.5V at the moment, so I'm running it in at that to see if I can get it to like high volts.

my ocz pc4000 vx

Okay guys,

Looking for choices here which would you choose or which one have you had the best success with?

Legendary BH5 or the new Voltage friendly VX4000 from OCZ.

Post your results/thoughts/ preference here.

Cheers

just got into windows benching away @271 fsb 2x 512 @2-2-2-5@1T 3.6 VOLTS.

will burn in memory and post results....

I get pretty much the same from my bh5 2x 512 kingston hyper x.

vmodded asus p4c800edx wont go past 244 @ 2225 @ 3.4V

Even if i drop the timings or up the juice more fsb always gives me errors.

So i run @ 5:4 :(

ram is pretty hot, havent tried cooling it, you think its worth a shot?

Gorby - At those volts you need to cool it actively (with a fan) probably get some cool air blowing on the MOSFETS too, should help when pumping in a few more volts and help get another 15-20mhz out of them BH5 Beauties. Remember P4 love bandwidth, tight timings are not so crucial - maybe worth looking to get some TCCD memory instead (300Mhz @ 2.5-3-3-7 with just 3.1v)

Scorchio - My mate on this forum got some VX4000 thats burning in now - 270 @ 2-2-2-6 stable at 3.4v - don't like 3.5v..........yet!!

Seems like a close run thing - me and scorchio are gonna be benchin head to head probably this week as our systems are identical apart from the RAM.

Lookining forward to seeing how Daz's and Minsta's VX and BH5 pan out - looks too close to call for me at present.

daz, try pm'ing one of the ocz rep's on ocforums or suchlike, sometimes theyl replace poorly overclocking sticks - once they replaced a crappy stick of my old ram that was holding the other back ;)
