Finally Want To Pull the Trigger. Let's Discuss!

Well Gents I just want to get the ball rolling and would appreciate your help and opinions. I've put this off for a few years and have had my budget ready to go for a few months and waited to see what CES would bring especially with the 1080ti situation. With that a mystery eta now I just dont want to wait and can always adjust with that down the line. Sorry for the long post but if I am committed to spending this money, I want to be confident I am going in the right direction.

As for what intentions with this build. I'd be lying if I said its not just for gaming. I am a graphic designer but I do have other work computers at the office and a laptop I can use for design work. I would though however casually like to mess around with video or streaming. I was all for going x99 but I must admit, I am all for going z270 and a Formula IX mobo just simply because it makes me happy and I find it sexy as can be.

I do like all types of gaming but this gaming build will center around my love for combat flight slims. I absolutely love them. DCS & BMS for those who know what they are. All other games are on the table too but its time to get back to my sims as well.

I don't have anything special Monitor wise and thats another hurdle after the build. Of course Im in love with the Asus ROG PG348Q but if Im dropping that money, I wish I can see it in person and test it. So thoughts on any experiences here? Im open to other routes here.

BUDGET: Well as of right now I have $3500 USD set aside for the build. That can or can not include the monitor. I can adjust based on my final decision. Doesn't mean I also have to spend that either. I can add or subtract here over the incoming weeks if needed.

Custom loop or AIO: Cant say I have major experience here. I have 3 builds to my name and 2 of them were small casual build for family. The other is an AIO. Id love to do a custom loop but fine with doing an AIO for now and moving to a custom loop down the road. Im actually more worried about other parts of the build then a custom loop. Dont ask me why, maybe its my way of saying stop being a skirt and just do it.

My 2 biggest dilemas part wise right now:

Which case do I want most. Few choices that I love:

1: Phanteks Ethoo Evolv Glass (Black) - Was my original Choice
2: Be Quiet Dark Base Pro 900 ( Black) - Fell in love surprisingly & bigger
3: Inwin 909 (black) - Most gorgeous case imo. Price is just too high but very sexy

GPU: As mentioned I was hoping the 1080ti was coming this week. Time to get something else for now. I wanted a EVGA FTW 1080 but is it worth it with the issues? If im custom loop the negates that right? Or go with something else? ASUS Strix 1080? ect.....

Below is a an example build I just through together without a custom loop. Thoughts, opinions, or just throw a build out there you think may just work better for me. Whether it saves me more money, better performance, ect....

Switch the Thermaltake Fans for some nice corsair ones and you'll be good to go in my opinion :D

Maybe swap the PSU for a SuperFlower Leadex platinum/Titanium if you fancy going all out

I will say the Phanteks Ethoo Evolv is a very well built case ,i have a grey one and ive built a system for a friend in one. Cant comment on the other 2 as ive not had them hands on.

I can give some insight into the PG348Q as I just got 1.

I came from a 2560x1440 144Hz G-Sync 1Ms TN, The Dell S2716DG to be exact.

And the difference is immense, The Hz difference isn't noticeable but the picture quality is fantastic and the extra real estate on the desktop is very useful, In games it becomes very immersive.

Brilliant investment.

Wait for Zen.

I'm with this. Should release next month according to rumors and when AMD said it would not be January but before Q1 ends and not the end of Q1. Sooo it's fairly soon. Best wait and see. Even if it isn't the new king on the market, it should still bring prices down.
