Dads Dell has died.

My Dads PC has died, i've narrowed it down and I believe the PSU has died (no power what so ever).

Since Dell's can use other PSU's i've got a spare 450w one, which is 20 pin.

a 20 pin to 24 pin should work correct? Hopefully the PSU didn't fry anything when it died.

If that doesn't work, gonna have to build a PC. Since he only browses the web were going to take the GPU and ram from the Dell (installed 4GB last year) and just buy a motherboard, new case and CPU. He says he wants to go onto Intel. Any suggestions on the specs?

Cheers.

A 20 to 24pin will work fine (as long as some muppet didn't wire it wrong). All it'll be is splitting 2x12v and 2xground leads(iirc...) and they all lead back ot the same place.

As for replacment. I'd go for an ION platform or somthing similar. Impress him by producing a tiny PC that is just as powerful as the old one :).
