hi guys
smile.png
i have a noctua nh-d14 and even with the low noise adaptors in i find it way to loud
sad.png
its in a zalman z9 plus. i know the case has a meshed side so more noise gets out but still. would i be able to return it for a new one as my friends nh-d14 is silent even on 12v

probably vibrations in the case

make sure everything is secured firmly and/or dampened

extra note: this may sound stupid but.... are the fans flowing in the same direction? (easy oversight)

ive isolated it to the 140mm in the centre. if i run it on 12v its crazy loud

rest of the case is quiet enough. everythings secured well. fans are flowing in the same direction. i really cant see why its so loud

would putting the cpu fans on my fan controller be a good idea or just return it to aria?

the large 140mm in the center is secured by 4x latex (soft plastic) strips

are they loose?

are you using the fan splitter? you should be, as it was designed to be used

also, when using the LNA's, they should be attached BETWEEN the fans and the splitter

the 4 strips are in there but only on one side? The 140mm is touching them. I'm using the fan splitter and the lnas are in the right place :/ at a loss of what to do now

one side, yes... is the spring-clip pressing the fan against the strips?

if so, it may be dodgy bearings in the fan.... RMA

oh *insert bad word* does that mean the whole unit back to aria? if so im stuck with a stock cooler

stock coolers were desinged to be used. They aren't going to cause your computer to melt. Unless your computer is on some crazy overclock you will have no problems with it whilst you wait for a replacement. If it is overclocked i would at least lower the OC whilst you wait though

I hear that it is loud when you use the fans. Where are they plugged in?

You need to use PWM control on those fans. 4pin connectors.

Maybe even Voltage control from your motherboard headers if PWM doesn't work.

I'm going to run into the same thing but you need variable fan speed to keep it quiet.

Nothing wrong with the heatsink, just failure to control fan speeds.

Fan controller = fastest.

Your going to RMA the entire D14 because your fans are to loud? Just get better fans, noctua is good but not the best. For me I got better results with enermax silent series with lower db.

Sure he'd rather get the items he paid for in the first place to work properly rather than just buy new ones.

i dunna know, unless the p14 or p12 is getting mega voltage it cant make noise @ 20dBA.

damn thats above a whisper. is it a rattle, moan, groan or vibration?

i fixed one that wasn't completely bolted to the mainboard and CPU on a vibration noise

complaint but the whole unit just cant make a loud enough noise. let us know what you find.

My D14 at 12V is rather loud, also. As are all my noctua fans, tbh. I have them all on the low noise adapters and then it's quiet.

all i hear in HDD case with NH-D14 is the HDD spooling.. you guys must have

some incredible hearing. you say loud as in wind noise, fan noise, or vibration?

i know you slowed it down, but it should be whisper quiet on 12v.

It's wind noise for me. I mean, I can still hear them at 7v. It's pretty damn quiet, but I can still hear an audible whisper - more than manageable, though.

I have 7 Noctua fans in my case and have them connected to a fan controller, with the notch turned all the way down, all i hear is the HDD and some coil whine.
