Ok, so I build my new computer and all goes well. Then I install all my software and all is good. Buy when I try and run Crysis threw steam I get a very strange crash. Every time I change my key binding and hit apply its freezes up op on me. After I CTRL+ALT+DEL I see that I get an error. MSVCR80.dll I'v checked a bit online and its seems like people are getting this error for all sorts of different reasons.

Anyone else had this error or know how to solve it?

Did you try this?

I found that deleting everything but the savegames folder in the ...\My Games\Crysis fixed the problem. Crysis will re-create all other files that it needs - but you don't need to mess with the savegames...

If that doesn't work, try this:

I'l give them a try. Slightly annoying though as this is a brand new build and a brand new game. Shouldnt really be happening.

Glitches happen. That's the life of a PC gamer.

ok still cant get it to work. Tried both methods and nothing. Its so strange. Crysis wars is fine, Crysis warhead fine but not the original. The only thing I can think of is that I ran Crysis before updating windows so maybe it has set the game up for software that I am now not using. But even when I reinstall it, it doesn't do the original system scan like a new version would.

You need to update Microsoft run time

If you have Windows seven SP1 download and run this

http://www.microsoft...on.aspx?id=8328

If you don't have SP1

http://www.microsoft...on.aspx?id=5555

Also install the Crysis 1 patch

I fixed the problem. Only took me a complete system format but as my computer was less then a week old it didnt take me to long. I thought there's no point in chasing my tail round and round when there are so many causes to this problem. So after a format I let windows do its thing and then when it was all updated I reinstalled all my games. Runs like a dream now.

I think the reason for my original crash was that I installed Crysis before I had done all my windows updates. So when Crysis launched for the first time scanned OLD files and drivers so when I did update windows fully it conflicted.

Thanks for everyone that tried to help.

Maybe I could of just reinstalled steam but I thought as I didnt have much on there I will just format and start again.
