Does anyone know if a game is purchased on steam, can it still play on a custom external server?

I don't see why it wouldn't have support for external custom servers, but there's still v.little info on it

From Crysis 2 forum announcements there are only at present dedicated servers through select partners.

This means no facility to run our own server or host the game, no modding etc...

This is at present ofc and that may change IF EA decide to offer it.

I realise Crysis 1 had the host own server but at present unless OC3D can become a partner then its a no go for hosting the game.

16 slot server from Multiplay is like £15 / month. Currently 25% off with a pre order or £180 for the year.

edit to debrand the server - i.e. call it something other than multiplay you can at a cost of £3 / month.

OC3D had some really good servers in the past, the trouble comes when they get hacked and it takes alot of admin time up resetting them etc. I would love to see OC3D back in amongst the top servers and with a top team again.

cool. i rekognise the OC3D in Unreal Tournament 3 like 3 years ago and since before learning about OC3D.NET webpage and youtube. Did OC3D have a UT2005 server?

Indeed much fun was had on the COD4 server,although sometimes it was a pain to be an admin,as you were that busy warning people or kicking the cheaters that you hardly got to play

Aye there is alway some idiot around to spoil it for everyone else.

Example: I was playing CODMW2 with my nephew the other day, and there was a guy on there that kept jumping like 10ft I mean seriously what's the point.

I agree Nepas, it was a total pain trying to admin due to all the popularity of the server and then all the players who had cracked games not giving a $%£&^ about anyone else or getting banned as they would just come back with a different hash after you banned them. Then there was those that thought hacking the server would be a good idea and did not realise that it would just get shut down as it was not worth the hassle for anyone who really cared about it.

I can see this developing into a bit of a rant so will shut up now, but yes I miss those days for all the GOOD reasons.

a permanent ban should be in order so EA's key is VOID. And servers called hackers only to give them something fair for them
