Crosshair IV Formula Missing HDD Error

[SPS]

During boot I get 3/4 LEDs that light up then off in sequence, with the last one staying on.

Just after I get the ROG logo that flashes, it says "No drives detected" or something along those lines. It's too quick to see.

Then it reboots with the LEDs off and starts as normal.

These LEDs are the ones just above the 24pin on the board.

I've looked in the manual and it says that it is a RAM check to see if the volts are too high. This can't be the right explanation because the BIOS is at default settings.

Does anyone have any suggestions why it is rebooting?

EDIT: After looking a bit more closely I've realised that it is the BOOT_DEVICE_LED not the memory. I don't understand why there would be an error at first but then be fine after.

Are you using the SATA connectors that a supplied with the ASUS board? If not you must use those. The SATA 6gb inputs WILL ONLY WORK with SATA 6gb cables. I had the same issue with my Sabertooth.

Yeah I'm using one of the 6 and 3Gb/s cables that came with the board.

It's odd because it still boots after a quick reboot.

Your boot drive should be using SATA 6gb. in fact ALL the sata 6gb connectors should only be using the SATA 6gb cables.

The boot drive is a 6Gb/s drive with cable and I did disconnect the second drive and it still did it. This hasn't always happened either.

Have you checked for a BIOS update, or tried another port. I know formula boards are picky with what SATA port you use, my CFIII also had issues. Is your boot drive in sata plug 0

Yeah it is in SATA1, I've just recently updated BIOS but that didn't solve the issue.

I never had this issue until I started overclocking.

So this happens when you OC, or started happening when you OCed earlier.

I OC about a month or so ago and started noticing it about half way in. I often turn my PC on then leave the room so I don't know if it happened from the start.

I used to get BSOD even on excessive volts and settings which seemed unexplainable so I went back to normal settings and it has done it ever since.

only one way to find out. plug it in another computer. Also what PSU do you use?

Have you also tried another SATA power connector? thats NOT linked to the same sata connector currently being used.

The hard drive missing error is for the marvel controler. Its like it on my maximus. Just disable it in the bios if you are not using it.

The 'Check Marvell LAN cable' option? That's already disabled in my BIOS.

I can't find anything on Google relating to this issue either

When you changed the SATA power connector did you make sure you didn't use one that was daisy chained to the one you had plugged in?
