Hi guys

I just ordered another 5850 so i can crossfire at last and have a question about the 6 pin connectors. I have a 850w galaxy power supply, on it it has 2 x 8 pin connectors and 1 x 6 pin . Obviously my 5850 needs a 8 pin and a 6 just leaving me with 1 8 pin to spare. My original 5850 came with a power spliter/adaptor lead with a 6 pin connector on it. If i connect the 6 pin part of my 5850 to the same rail as my fans for exaple would that be correct?

Thanks in advance

"Obviously my 5850 needs a 8 pin" WUT!? i am not aware of a 5850 using an 8pin?

I am still having a hard time understanding what you are asking? are you asking "if plugging in a GPU on the same rail as the fans," or whether you can slin the 6pin into 2 6pins. Sounds like you dont have enough connectors?

equk pointed out to me that an ASUS 5850 TOP has an 8 and a 6 pin power connector.

Ive sorted it now though found some pcie leads that plug into my power supply doh! I pressumed that the hard wired connectors was all i had to play with. Im a bit worried about my temps now, the crossfire FPS results im getting are awesome but the new sapphire 5850 ive added in recently is going up to 78c at full load :S the asus EAH sits at a nice respectable 50c. Its really noisy.
