Hi guys,

Just a quick one for my dads birthday.

Creative HS450 vs Creative Labs Fatal1ty (headsets)

The Fatal1ty one is a bit more, just wanted to make sure I wasn't paying for just the name.

The specs seem the same, other than the wider headband and detachable mic. (from what I can see).

Thank you.

What are these going to be used for? I had the Fatal1ty set and didn't like it. Uncomfortable and the positional audio was absolutely terrible. I would recommend the Koss SB40

Hey guys, sorry I forgot. My dad's just getting into LAN gaming with me. He doesn't type to fast so he has to have a mic too.

He's a bit of a newb but who am I to say good sound won't help him. Just we kinda agreed on a price, and the Creative ones fit the bill nicely.

That doesn't sound to good WC Annihilus, thank you, I'll have a look into that one.

Thanks llwyd, I'll have a look at them too.

He won't be using them for anything other than gaming with me.

buy a good quality stereo set and you wont be disappointed

Sennheiser HD-555 or Hd-595 are very good for the money

Dude I have some A900's, this is for my dad, not me.

He simply doesn't play or is good enough to understand the difference, besides I don't want to spend that much for a present, we've already talked and I explained to him about the quality difference.

SteelSeries have never let me down!

What other headsets have you used? If you see our steelseries reviews you will see then when compared with other decent headphones, the 3H are the only ones we thought were worth their salt. The 4H and 5H are simply crap in comparison to everything else I and other reviewers here have used.

OP go check out the 3H review and see if you think theyre worth the extra fiver. I found them very good for bass but the treble was lacking and the mic wasnt up to much. Stereo envelopment was OK, certainly better than the 5H V2s

Ive not used those creative headphones but I have never been impressed by their lower spec headphones. You will be hard pushed to get better sound quality for the price than the sennheisers.

Well went with the Creative Fatal1ty, friend has it and likes it a lot, thanks for the help everyone!

If it's good quality etc then I'll be more likely to buy there gaming sound card.

The XTreme gamer is better than the Fatal1ty!

:)

And cheaper!

Yes lots of people are saying the X-Fi XtremeGamer is good, people on 64bit Vista too, which kind of wins the deal ;).

Well, let my dad have it early, I've tried it for a few days.

I have to say the mic is very, very, very good quality (from all the ones I've used).

The mic also bends nicely and holds postion well.

It also looks pretty nice and is light. Comes with good padding on the headband.

Comes in a nice box and with a nice little pouch for them.

Bad points from my own point of view, narrow ear cups, just don't fit me, hurts my ears after a hour or so.

Sound quality, bass is quite overpowering (muddy) and mid range sounds kinda hollow. Although the bass is quite strange in games, which it's designed for, so not to bad I suppose. To be honest pretty much all the cheaper headphones/sets have these problems...

I'm comparing this against my Audio Technica A900's so not really a fair comparison at all! Audio technica's have a large round cup and there "wing system" which is a lot, lot more comfortable even though they weigh a lot more.

Overall I would recommend them for the price, and if you need a good quality mic.

What I would really recommend is Audio Technica A900's and with these headphones around your neck so you can use the quality mic! :D
